Possibility To Delay Ticket

Unread post by canadian4evr »

Hey,

So I was given a reduced ticket for going 65 in a 50 zone in Niagara Falls last week. I was wondering if I would be able to delay the ticket until februaryish so that I can renew my insurance in Feb before the ticket appears on my record. I had another ticket with the same charge in September 2009 that will disappear in 2012 I believe. I think it is worth a shot at delaying so I renew with only one ticket on my record.

I have already checked out the ticket and everything is correct other than the officer failed to write the section number of the HWTA on my ticket.

Any tips or suggestions on how I should proceed?

The only way to delay a conviction is to contest the charge. You would have to request a trial and hope that there's enough of a backlog that your Court date isn't booked before February. In some busy jurisdictions like Toronto, a nine month wait for a trial is pretty common, but I have no idea what kind of time frame you're looking at in Niagara.
