Keep raging Bel! That's how MADD (the real one) got started. Mother's who wouldn't take it anymore. There's a good OP ed in the Star about Fantino and the OPP forgetting the lessons of Ipperwash. When you give more powers to the police, they have to earn it and they have to demonstrate that they can use it responsibly. So far, there's only a 33 ...

And the electronic are not that expensive to swap. We already do it for Ford, everything is interchangable. This would be a new piece of equipment. Even if it wasn't, you still have to stock an additional piece, make room for it on the line, training, and line adjustments. Make sure you see the officer before doing anything. If he's there, then look to pleading guilty to a lesser charge. The charge will be handled that day.
If you don't see the officer, he may be in another court room or outside. If the officer does not show up, there is no witness. They have to toss your charge in which case you don't want to plead ...

Re: Fail to Sign Permit/Ownership
Simply state that I could not sign the ownership as the vehicle is not mine? I wouldn't get into testifying that the ownership wasn't signed. Instead concentrate on the charge which is about a corporate signature. The charge is about the permit holder being a corporation and the prosecution will have no evidence of that. Before the trial you can ...

Re: Fail to Sign Permit/Ownership
I see lots of things like this come from the MTO licencing offices. I guess it's more common after all. If you bought the car at the dealership, they would hand you the ownership without the requisite "sign here". You can go to a kiosk for your sticker and avoid an MTO office (until it's picture time). It could be a couple of years before someone ...

This is just bizarre. Section 8(2) is an explanation clause stating that a corporate officer with signing authority can sign the corporate ownership to be in compliance with sub (1).

Fighting a ticket is not always about winning. Sometimes it's about minimizing the damage of the ticket (fine + insurance). It's a tough decision to make - to take the lower charge or fight on.
You walked away with no demerit points. Congratulations.

Before you "suck it up and pay" you should know that "guilty with an explanation" won't reduce the fine. Speed fines are set by statue and cannot be reduced. Your explanation is pointless.

Less than 15 over is as low as you can go for a speeding ticket and you don't get any demerit points (contrary to popular belief, you don't loose demerit points, you gain them). It's very tempting to accept this.

Both my parents had disabled permits. When I would drive them to the mall, all the disabled spots would be taken. I would drive up to the entrance, let them out and then park. I had an experience last week that could maybe shed some light on this problem. After 6 straight hours behind the wheel through the middle of the night, I suddenly got very tired just 1/2 hour from home. Some insurance companies count demerit points and others just count convictions. For example three convictions with no demerit points could raise your rates while two convictions of 3 demerit points each won't. It really depends on the insurance company and their policy.

This one is really interesting. The lights should be timed to allow for the width of the intersection and the speed of traffic. A yellow light should last longer if you have to cross eight lanes of traffic than if you only cross two. And depending on the speed (40kmh or 80 kmh) you'll need more or less warning time to slow down and stop. The ...

I think you can create reasonable doubt by asking what the officer actually saw on the screen. I doubt he will remember. He probably saw a screen larger than a GPS and asssumed it was a DVD unit. He wasn't aware of what your unit has (and it sounds like an awesome unit). Bring the manual to court as proof. If your unit had any of the other driving ...

This reminds me of all those stories you hear about people swerving into oncoming traffic to avoid running over a squirrel. I love animals and we should do more to protect them, but in Ontario you can't speed to drive your mother to the hospital let alone your dog.
