Hence, there should be a charge for "strike a vehicle from behind"

Re: not sure whre this belongs

"road conditions" don't cause anyone to go off the road.

a driver can not drive on the wrong side of the road: during a hill, curve, bridge, railroad crossing, which is typically where yellow lines are found
and/or
driver must drive in a marked lane and may only leave the marked lane if it can be done safely

Re: failure to surrender insurance card

yes I appreciate this but I'm talking about the proper card in a matter of minutes - not weeks.

the card was in the car - just the wrong one given first..

I issue a fair amount of insurance card offences and warn for a demerit point offence. If someone produces a 2nd insurance card when I go back up to the car, I will still issue the offence ...

Re: Weird Situation.

The licence is a "provincial" suspension, meaning in Ontario only AND it does not matter what type of licence you have elsewhere, if you are back in Ontario you can NOT drive during that suspension period.

Re: How long does a conviction stay on your record?

1. a. Record will stay forever on the database of the police agency that charged the offender (with the exception of the RCMP which is governed by federal retention rules. I would imagine this rarely applies in Ontario though, since the RCMP patrols relatively few roads in Ontario, compared to other provinces*).
Negative - normal every day ...

Re: Are blue solid lights in the front legal?

If one needs the extra lights of whatever colour as they want their car to "show", why not install an extra switch and leave the lights off until in a parking lot, where you want to "show the car". This way you can be certain you are legal on the road with normal/required lighting.

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages

. You'd think of it of common sense, but a lot of people new to Canada (and some that have simply never driven before) are ignorant to the dangers of excess speed in poor conditions, which is why some of us have been advocating that better driver education would do a lot more than speed governors.
I would not blame new citizens of Canada. I ...

Re: No Validated Permit, but for suspicious reasons

If the O.P./owner acquire Ontario permits and present them to the court, could they have the charge dropped (in this situation, or a similar one such as experied Ontario plates)? .

I don't know why prosecution would drop the charge, it is an offence.
However, if the driver/owner took responsibility and has rectified the situation, maybe they ...

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages

The point that has been presented is simply this - governing the speed of everyone on the road will not reduce the number of accidents on the road, quite the contrary, as higher speed limits in other countries prove that faster speeds equal less accidents.
however, from the posts I have read, those other countries have way higher standards in ...

Re: Pedestrian Crossing Violation

Seems the private driveway and sidewalk are not part of the highway or roadway as the constable thought..
well the officer is correct as the sidewalk is part of the "lateral property lines" that the municipality owns defined in the HTA, however what caused the glitch or "lucky for you" was that a "pedestrian crossover" definition is not ...

Re: What to do if you witness an HTA infraction

- did you see the officer stop the vehicle, thus being the person driving at that time is now identified
2. I don't understand this question since no officer actually stopped him - he got away from me (by blowing a red light) before I could find or attract a PC (as I had no cell phone).

The problem if you lost sight of the vehicle, prior to ...

Re: No Validated Permit, but for suspicious reasons

- when plates from outside of Ontario are checked, police still receive the information as to whether the plates are valid or not

- I don't just check a vehicles speed, but I personally check hundreds of plates a day, whatever I can see, no matter what province/state. Looking for expired plates, suspended drivers, driver's with no licence, no CVOR ...
