Re: Defective Braking System: $110
Why does it take two squad cars for a minor traffic infraction?
I have never understood this, why they request/need backup?
Typical daily operations....driving along or see another cruiser stopped with someone, we stop to check on the other unit. Often it is another police service and we stop as well
I think they're just bored and figure they ...

surrender driver's licence, ownership, insurance must all be shown upon demand. There is no 12/24/48/72 etc hr grace period in Ontario.

Re: The MPH Bee III radar gun's POP mode
never heard of MPH in use in Ontario, who uses it?
You must understand POP/instant on to even know what it is about, yes you can have a tracking history.

Sounds like discretion for a student. Not going to let the student completely off, but give the student a break with all the expenses of school and who maybe has a part time job.Radar Identified wrote:If that's the case, I'd recommend paying the fine. If the officer did clock you doing 95 but lowered it to 75, that's a pretty big reduction. .

Re: Being picked on by an officer
received two tickets in two weeks in the same place by the same officer. Sound odd?
does not sound odd at all. The traffic unit must set up there A LOT. I don't live in London, but even from the half dozen times I go each year, I have seen cruisers in the same place.

Re: No time to file for disclosure
As for your other questions, YES it is possible that an officer could pull two people over and get them on radar but it makes it less likely that the radar gun was tested after each use (but not impossible to my knowledge). .
Unit has to be tested before and after the offence, not each individual use. I test start of day, end of day....plus ...

White is the enforceable speed signs.
Yellow is cautionary/ recommended speed, this usually occurs on ramps, tight curves

Re: Defective Braking System: $110
to test the brake:
- automatic tranny - apply brake, put in lowest gear forward, then reverse, vehicle should not move
- standard tranny - apply brake, 1st gear and then reverse, engine noise will change to "under load" and almost go to a stall with ever so light fuel application, vehicle should not move
Either case vehicle moves, brake is not ...

Re: Defective Braking System: $110
As far as I know, none of the places with mandatory inspections requires such a test, either. .
Still a mandatory test.
HTA OREG 611, schedule 1
( 8 ) With the parking brake properly adjusted, the parking brake shall be tested by fully applying the control and then releasing it and,
(a) the brake, while set in the fully applied position and not ...

Re: Speeding in a Provincial Park
There are 2 seperate ways to be charged in a Provincial Park
1) Provincial Parks Act. Something like... greater than the posted speed limit with a set fine and no points....does not matter how far over the limit a person is (sounds like the offence you received)
2) Highway Traffic Act. Normal speeding fines and demerit points.

$110 and no points......however, pending on the age of the occupants 3 seatbelt tickets which = $110 each and 2 points. Plus can not permit the vehicle to continue down the road in violation.....so possible cab fare??
then toss in officer discretion, pending the reason for that many ppl in there
