Re: question reports from the public

coolski;
txs

Depends on the quality of the report, the seriousness and frequency of the offence, the evidence available and workload pressures.

A verbal report for a one time incident might get a warning phone call to the RO...but might not. The likelihood of a civilian witness being the only witness and being successful for the crown is very ...

Re: Looking for advice on stunt driving first court appearan

I believe at the ER; they can tell when your last conviction was; from "somewhere" I saw something like a figure of only if clean in the last 3 years of driving, they will reduce it
(I can't remember) perhaps if it still shows on the abstract that still applies.

A total 3 speeding "events" in 5 years is a lot. I've been booked for speeding only ...

yeah; that's like slightly different.

It's when a MP gets told well I'll reduce the fine so you get less points and it wont affect your insurance
when 2 or 3 points will because it's the conviction not the points

but for sure if you start adding points up; you'd be right there ;)

I though stunt was also included
* engaging in road racing
* wheel spins / doughnuts
and the like

Back when I took drivers ed it was double the speed limit to lose your ticket.

question reports from the public

So following a couple of questions given me;

If a MOP reports a suspected driving offence either by phone at the time or afterwards will Police follow up on it and/or charge?

If the MOP was taking a video whilst driving using a handheld device; either a phone or a camera, then surly "that" person could be done under the handsfree laws as well ...

it doesn't matter either way; because as far as insurance are concerned (which is the main issue) a conviction regardless of points or fine, is still a conviction.

Insurance companies rate tickets in one of three categories: Minor, Major & Serious.

I have not looked into it myself, but it sounds like you are saying the Failure To Stop is a Major. Basically you pleaded guilty to it, so there is nothing you can do now. As you can see, sometimes it is better ...

I was referring to the UK and there are NO warning signs it will just say 70 then 50
and they expect you to be doing that speed as soon as you car hits that sign

How is it a cash grab having signs that indicate what speed you should be going ? The warning signs are a courtesy to allow you to slow your car down to the new sped limit ahead which is ...

hi;
sorry to hijack; but a related question

on a road the posted limit is 70.. you get a sign then saying 50 ahead, then the 50 starts sign.

SO... between doing the 70 and the 50 at "what"point should you be doing 50, because there will be the 50 ahead and the 50 STARTS?
should the car be slowed down from 70-50 at the 50 ahead sign OR gradual ...

I "HATE" when they say this; of course it will, there's so many posts's both here and on other forums where people who've been copped, say this same line ; where cops are saying; they'll lower the points or reduce the speed it won't effect your insurance.
Why do they say that when they blatantly know it's not true

Insurance Company Reporting: Your insurance policy states that you are required to report all accidents,
regardless of the amount of damage. Many drivers believe that if they pay the damages themselves they dont need to involve the insurer;
this is not true. Your insurer needs to be kept in the loop of any collision.

I believe your insurance requires you to report ALL incidents, regardless of cost or fault.

It forms the basis of them appraising you,

The correct advise IS that you should report it.

FAILING to report an incident to your insurance, AND should the other party decide to could cause you problems.
When reporting an accident insurance generally are ...

it's not a tad over 50, (and I get what your saying)

it's 51 "over" the speed limit

I thought LEO's do?

UK cops certainly do, any traffic cop can tell if a car is insured and I think by who,road taxed (same as sticker), MOT'd (vehicle safety) when they stop them.
They have access to a database (actually sometimes it is wrong :) ) but they do.

They can and usually do have a hotline to ring for each insurance provider to confirm ...
