Insurance are not interested in points, its only for the MTO, and your ability ot have a license
a conviction, is a conviction and as such is liable to effect your insurance,
convictions are rated as minor major and serious,
so unless you can get the ticket thrown out, that is the only way it will NOT effect your insurance

Re: First Ticket - 130km/h on 401 near Cobourg
AFAIK from readin around, they can't retroactivly hike charges.
and points do not make any differance to your insurance, its only for the MTO
a conviction is a conviction, (or rather) it depends if its classified as a minor/major/serious.
With my ins co, any speed ticket under 50over is classified as a minor
so if you have 1km over or 49km over ...

1> lasar and radar is very dependant on the operator and if the device was calibrated. as for the car you could have it calibrated on a dyno to confirm its acuracy.. I do get your point on what the courts do trust. how do I know if I'm speeding then? if my speedo's out, I wouldnt never know. Mind you in the real world speedo's are not out (on OEM ...

I'm looking at getting a 2 / 3 channel dashcam, to get front back and and possibly inside.
inside, to protect me incase someone says I was handling my phone, and or to catch my speedo/GPS (which shows my speed)
So...

option 2 ! MY trip down the rabbit hole begins - advise pls
So Ive taken the plunge after a week of deliberating.
I appreciate the advice Ive got from folks here.
So I decided to go for option 2 and now my trip down the Rabbit hole begins
I have a few questions; oh if there is a link here anywhere that I've missed please let me know

bluetooth devices / cell phones / distraction
so I have a cell phone on a dash mount, (so I can see it)
I have a bluetooth handsfree in the visor.
If I'm driving, and the phone goes, if I press the button on the bluetooth device to take a call and just talk into the mic
Will you be ticketed ?
I think you can set it for auto or voice answer but my phone doesnt support that
Also I heard ...

Another good one is "http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp"
good advise,
question: in the UK, while technally +1mph over the limit is illegal, "usually" its regarded as 10% +3 MPH to be considered speeding.
10% because a speedo can be that much out (the older ones where) and 3% is the width of the needle.

Re: stunt / racing / speeding
thankxs,
makes sense; which is why it's confusing that people have been posting nhere getting done for stunt when it should be speeding
Speeding is covered under S.128 of the HTA, travelling +1 km/hr over the posted limit = guilty.
