can you still get a ticket ?
was asked this,
friend was on a 400 series, saw a marked LEO on the shoulder with a radar gun,
guy said he was doing 120, in lane 1, but his GPS said 115,
not a lot of traffic, but the cop didnt pull him,
he went a bit further down and saw another OPP parked up, (though might have been pacing him)
again nothing
so.. can he still get a ticket like ...

Re: Ontario reintroducing Photo Radar/Speed Cameras?
sorry not true, 50+ brit here, and that's simply not true
since the introduction of speed cameras, driving is more dangerous,
people speed UP to the camera then slam on there anchors.
speed limits on some spots have "suddenly" changed and cameras put up
it's a taxation for the government, stats have shown, little to no improvement in road safety ...

Re: Incorrect speed limit shown on ticket
I think, depending on the mood of the officer, they could very well do so.
You know that +1 over the limit is speeding
A friend of mine was ticketed by radar for 3 MPH over (back home)
but as you say, it was an 80 not a 70,
someone with more experience will come along to confirm if it is a fatal

I'll try and find the link of my experience with ER,
it's painless and different places do differently,
on mine, I requested ER, got a date and attended, went into a private cubby and chatted with the prosecutor, got a reduction and took it, sameday went before the judge who confirmed
I was pleeding guilty, paid fine went home

Re: Carrying two insurance cards Ontario
<GULPS>
I would be concerned with section 13.1 of the CAIA with regards to an "invalid insurance card".
So say you put your new card in the vehicle but it is not valid yet, and your old one is still valid. Or the new one becomes valid, but your old one is still in the car and it is invalid now. In theory you can get a $10,000 fine for this ...

Re: Expired Drivers License, and sticker
as I said, I saw one guy, at my wifes ER, he went to the pro. who confirmed (a bit condescendingly) you know that your sticker expires/renews on your birthday, he looked sheepishly, ummed and arred
then the prosec. asked if he had his sticker and he said he already got it and showed him the form/receipt.

Re: Carrying two insurance cards Ontario
I usually update the cards but can see how you might just slip one in,
and as jsherk says
like seriously this is even an offence, I think LEO's/justice system should be more concerned with NO insurance rather than having an expired card and new one (as long as new one is valid)
sheesh
now that sucks b**ls

I've seen 2 or 3 people go into early resolution, with the new sticker and totally get off with a slapped wrist.
both will be classified as a minor and yes effect insurance

Re: 49 over in a fifty
Yes there are going to be issues with three people testifying about speed which is why I suggested a 50/50 chance of it working. What they say and how they say it will be important to the JP's decision. If it was just the driver testifying himself then the chances are pretty much 0 that JP will believe driver over officer. Add a couple more ...

ahh, gotcha
so a reply, like "I'm not sure I did Officer, but if I did I do apologize"
as opposed to, "sorry I reserve the right not to incriminate myself and hereby only giving you my name and address"

Hey there,
question: if an LEO, stopped a guy for same, and asked the same question; can you refuse to answer or as you have advised, or similar.
Could you not get done for obstruction?
IMPORTANT: At no time should your friend ever admit to disobeying the stop sign, to either the prosecutor or the officer. If they ask your friend this question ...

The 09/10 shouldnt even be counting on your license or as far as insurance is concerned (run a abstract and it will show this)
So you have 2, and if this one goes though 3; your insurance could have a problem with that.
Usually 2 minors, but hit 3 and they'll refuse your insurance on renewal.

>jsherk,
how are 3 people going to testify that the car was doing 65 or any speed for that point.
Wouldn't all 3 need to be looking at the speedo? That's not likly ? Is the driver at some point going to tel his passengers, hey guyz I'm doing 65 now in case anyone asks.
Not trying to be a smarta$$, but... seriously?

early resolution, you are basically admitting guilt, you are just trying to negotiate a smaller fine
it's still a conviction and still goes on your record and still cause potential insurance issues.
but as Bend says unless you get a miracle, it's not going away,
