Re: Stunt Driving - NEED ADVICE PLEASE

........and you didn't realize you where doing 150, then, just under double the speed limit
we all drive on this board, I've had some pretty fast performance vehicles
and to say I didn't realize I was doing twice the limit or nearly 150, doesn't jive

I can see people wondering 10-20 over, in inadvertently, but you put your foot down or left it ...

Re: Stopped for 30-49km/h over but reduced...G2

15over or 49 over regardless of points is still considered the same as far as your insurance is concerned,
it will be classed as a minor offence (GENERALLY) you may fine a 5%-10% surcharge over 3-5 years
depending on your insurance company and how loyal you are.

1st offence is not going to be a problem, problem is, when you get TWO or THREE

which ...

Re: careless driving because pedestrian claims my car hit he

I think the days of getting mass payouts from insurance companies, for what I would call "a bump and roll" are over, they want good proof before they even payout.

I spoke to my insurance last year about coverage and we had a good conversation about liability, suing and accident damage payouts
very interesting

Re: careless driving because pedestrian claims my car hit he

don't forget to "get" thoes 10k bills you probably need the following

* Corroborating witness's
* Doctors to confirm she is injured (enough to warrant that kind of a payout)
* Time of work (if your that badly injured)
* Doctors notes for pharmacutecals - pain killers etc
* Chiro proof of appointments
* Time of work for trial
* Lawyer

Re: careless driving because pedestrian claims my car hit he

I hear you, I can't go into details,but
I had a "meeting" with the police a few years back, they first didn't tell me they where the police, they rang me Friday afternoon and LEFT a fricckin voice mail on my cell.
They HAD known about this since the morning, (leaving it so I didnt have time to think)
They just came across as being "hi my name is ...

Re: driving to US - questions

nice one otd ;)

Will you be using the Thruway between Buffalo and Rochester? If so, that's one of the most heavily patrolled sections. State Troopers do not give much leeway there. I've heard they'll pull drivers over at only 75 mph (120 km/h). You should probably stick to what the people with New York plates are doing. Also, if you see a lot of ...

If I where a baker, I'd get to take a few odd loaves home at the end of the shift

Re: Plugging My Cell Phone in at Stop Light

It's a bit sad, although I understand the "letter of the law" but moving a cellphone, pluggin it in when stopped or pulled over, popping a chocolate in your mouth, is totally different from someone holding a phone to the head and talking?
or even texting, totally understand it's dangerous and distracting

But surely just pluggin it in, or moving it ...

in the UK, some people got done for eating, under distraction laws.
basically anything OTHER than driving could cause a distraction.

A phone more so, due to the way it effects your brain (proved)
eating or talking not so, but if your not in full control of your car
then your distracted

Of course, this doesn't negate the victim's ability to still sue the 'uninsured' person personally. driving to US - questions

Planning on going to the US (NY from TO) for about a week, next year;
so some questions and points,

1> Do I need to get special cover from my insurance
2> My car speedo is in KM's , would it help to put a couple of stickers to note where the MPH limits are
3> IF I get a ticket, do I have to go back to NY, to deal with it?
4> If I ignore it can I ...

Re: Ontario reintroducing Photo Radar/Speed Cameras?

The evidence shows that it reduces injury collisions. Just because you repeat the mantra enough that speeding doesn't hurt anyone doesn't make it true. A collision at 60 kms/hr compared to a collision at 30 kms/hr is safer for everyone concerned.

The speed cameras in the UK absolutely have slowed the traffic down which is exactly the result ...

Re: Ontario reintroducing Photo Radar/Speed Cameras?

sorry not true, 50+ brit here, and that's simply not true
since the introduction of speed cameras, driving is more dangerous,
people speed UP to the camera then slam on there anchors.

speed limits on some spots have "suddenly" changed and cameras put up

it's a taxation for the government, stats have shown, little to no improvement in road safety ...
