Re: No seatbelt/no licence on highway
How did he possibly see that you didn't wear your seatbelt when you were driving 100km/h (im sure you were going faster) on the highway?
He could have followed from behind, looked though the back window, and took note of the position of the belt on the pillar. In that case, speed is irrelevant whether it's 30km or 100km.
If you're looking for ...

Re: Red Light - Fail to Stop & Red Light Camera ticket
I am just not sure why he gave me the ticket if he knows that I would be getting one via the red light camera?
I'd imagine the officer is giving you a "best" case scenario, best being everything works correctly as it should. He knows you're likely to get ticket in the mail, but it's not a guarantee. It's hard to fault the officer for following ...

Re: number plates
Ontario is pretty strict about plates. You have to have an issued plate completely unaltered and 100% visible.
With an Ontario issued plate, you can't alter it in any way. Someone here once asked about painting their blue Ontario letters to another colour (illegal), i've seen someone once trim their plate due to some fitment issues on their bumper ...

Re: Didn't receive letter after Early Resolution regarding c
Warnings have been issued. Please stay on topic.
Back in November, I got pulled over for not stopping 3 seconds at a stop sign. The officer decided not to give me a ticket for that but instead because I had improper paperwork in the car. The date on the license plate did not match the date on the paperwork. I chose "Early Resolution" and went to ...

Re: Validation improperly affixed
The vehicle validation sheet you get from ServiceOntario with the two stickers remains the same. It'll still give you instructions to place the one sticker on the back of the permit, and then instructions for the plate sticker on personal/commercial vehicles.bobajob wrote:ooh let me go re-read mine

Re: Red Light - Fail To Stop
No, I don't. I got the ticket less than a week ago, still gotta file it.
You don't have any details regarding your stop and neither does the guy you went to. You have no idea what the officer did or did not do. One line in the notes saying "observed lights -working correctly" and that's the end of it (not that it would have gotten you anywhere ...

One defense a paralegal told me about was...
The cop was not looking at the same light as me, he was in front of me on the opposite side so therefore he wasn't looking at the same light as me, therefore my light could've been yellow and his could've been red.
Unless he tested the lights (which I'm sure he didn't)?

No one here knows anything about your case other than the story you've provided.
Do you have any notes or anything from your disclosure request?

Re: Red Light - Fail To Stop
Yes, but I'm trying to say after 3-years it will be off my record. Even if they check with the MTO it's not going to show up.
The ticket is on your driver record for life. There are different types of record requests you can make through ServiceOntario. Insurance provider will use a 3 year record, but they may ask you personally (verbally) for a ...

Re: Validation improperly affixed
They don't. You only need a sticker on your plate. Although it's probably best to just put it on both to avoid any hassle.UnluckyDuck wrote:On a side note - was the sticker placed on both the back of the ownership as well as the TOP RIGHT corner of the license plate? Those are the two places they need to be. If not, it is a charge.

Re: Red Light - Fail To Stop
Unlucky duck. You have to reveal tickets, suspensions to your insurance company. If not they can refuse to pay.
Agreed. It's in every insurance policy. You have to reveal any changes.
No one does it, but they could very well deny you coverage when you need it the most. When they deny you coverage, your only option is to take them to court. I ...

Re: G2, 1 month from full G test, 49 over. Clarification?
If you delay your conviction until after you get your G you will avoid the suspension.
I don't know if this necessarily true. While the regulations discussing Novice Drivers don't cover what happens when you graduate on a first strike, it goes into detail when discussing a third.

Re: Driving under suspension
Oh, that's right. You would have received a summons. Just wait for you summons date and make sure you have everything. Explain how your wife paid for the tickets (by mail I assume), your license had unknowingly been suspended, you were pulled over, and you had received the suspension letter after the fact. Show them you've paid the fines ...

Re: Red Light - Fail To Stop
It doesn't work like that.
You aren't "keeping a clean record" by cancelling your insurance for a couple years. All you're doing is avoiding any surcharge they charge you for the next little while.
Also, you can't do insurance math to predict the future. Is your insurance provider planning on keeping the same rates years from now? You plan on ...

Re: accident and ticket
There's no harm in showing up for your court date and seeing what happens. Best case scenario is they drop the charge for whatever reason. While it's not likely, you'd save a bit on your insurance (e.g. 5%). Your provider would still charge you for the accident, however (e.g. 20%). The second outcome is they offer you a reduced charge. Your ...
