Re: Careless Driving: help please....

Traffic happened to be traveling in this lane. As you changed into this lane, you nearly caused an accident by not yielding to the passing vehicles.

If I have the story straight, then the police officer is not at fault- you are. You nearly caused an accident by changing lanes into a lane without yielding.

Re: ticket for "park in a fire route"

Fire routes are not based off fire hydrants. They are equipped in case a fire emergency services need to enter the premises and have adequate space for any maneuvering around the entire lot if need be and not be blocked from reaching a destination.

Here are the bylaws regarding fire route signage in Toronto:

Fire route signs shall be located ...

Re: Traffic Tickets Between NY and Canada

I got a speeding ticket in new york and I live in Canada I read this article on traffic tickets between NY and Canada, but I'm not sure of it is accurate. Anyone know the law?

The New York ticket will show up as if it's been committed in Ontario. Speeding is a charge that can be transferred. You will receive the equivalent Ontario demerit points ...

Re: Careless Driving: help please....

From your description Careless Driving sounds like an excessively high charge, I would fight it. At the very least you can probably plea bargain it down to a less serious charge such as "Change lane not in safety" which sounds like a more accurate description of what happened. Since Careless Driving is a pretty serous charge, it might be worth it ...

Re: License Plate Colours

Thank you so much for the help.

It is actually someone I know who really wanted to have a fully covered pink license plate for personal reasons but I wasn't sure if that was allowed. I had trouble reading through the laws so your help is very much appreciated.

I'm not sure whether your friend was considering coloring his plate somehow or using ...

Re: OPP News Release on the internet

let alone describing a crime for which I was not ultimately convicted of.

The article probably states you were charged, which you were. It doesn't mean you were convicted. Factually, it's sound. They aren't obligated to amend articles or releases based on new information unless it was in error.

You can try contacting someone involved and see if ...

Re: 168 in 100 zone. 400

the unmarked cop in an SUV was tailing me for a good 2-3 minutes as I was travelling 120~135 km/h. Then as he came close I decided to boot it up to 168.

This act, without considering the numerical value of speed, falls under stunt driving. That is why can be combined. You can't engage in contests with other vehicles on the road. Either pull into ...

Just call or attend the courthouse where you filed. Explain you requested a court date 6 months ago and you are making sure a date wasn't already scheduled without your knowledge. It's quite possible ...

Re: Should I still go to court even if ticket was reduced?

My question is: What am I going to say when I talk to the prosecutor? Take the reduced deal? Do i take it to court knowing my only hope is that cop doesn't show up? They might even amend my fine to the original if I go to court.

What are you hoping to do? Have your ticket further reduced? If that's the case, you've gone from 4 points to 0 ...

I intend to enter a not guilty plea and request a court appearance where if nothing present my side and attempt to plead to a lesser charge as I believe I did everything possible to avoid the collision.
Any suggestions?

Re: Speeding: 94 in an 80 - do i fight?

Hello, got caught in a standard speedtrap... one officer on the bridge doing radar/laser, and lots more in cruisiers pulling over cars.

He asked me when my last ticket was, took my license and was back within minutes with a 94 in an 80. Said he really got me doing 115 and in an 80, and knocked it down and left.

Never mind the fact at the randomness that this specific law is enforced. Harass kids in civics, yet leave harleys(which are by far the loudest on the rd) alone.

Do Civic owners have noise by-laws specific to their vehicle, which based on the amount of cylinders, their exhaust can't go over a certain amount of decibels or face a MINIMUM $400-$25 ...

Re: muffler ticket

muffler unsafe? lol
All a muffler does is reduce noise. It has zero bearing on co in the cabin either. It does nothing to filter and or reduce exhaust gas ouput. Its for sound suppression(And the laws on that are weak at best too)

whether that gets you off in court is entirely different matter ...but I felt like chiming in.

The officer said it ...
