Re: Unintentionally failed to stop for school bus!

It's in there somewhere, but I'm pretty sure it only applies to traffic control signals, not stop signs. I believe the intent is to prevent bus drivers from displaying contradictory signals to drivers (i.e., stiop from bus, green from signal).

EDIT: It's 175 (9):
(9) No person shall actuate the overhead red signal-lights or the stop arm on a ...

I believe it does, through 148 (2). Paraphrasing, it says to the effect of "vehicles overtaken must turn to the right". Meaning if faster traffic is approaching you, you must move to the right to allow them to pass.

"Actually engaged in" - key words. You were in the store, hence you were not "actually engaged in" loading merchandise.

Re: front license plate position in ontario

This has been discussed before and the interpretation was that the plates must be displayed on the front of the vehicle, not simply be visible to the front. The HTA uses "to the front" to describe things like prohibited lights that cannot be visible from the front of the vehicle, no matter where they are mounted. The wording being "on the front ...

Re: Open Alcohol in Car

Was this on federal land in Ottawa? NCCTPR = National Capital Commission Traffic and Property Regulations.

Only reference to liquor I can find is section 36.
36. No person shall have liquor in his possession on or in the property of the Commission other than in accordance with the laws of the province in which the Commission property is situated.

Re: Parking ticket from "Developer maintained - Unassumed ro

Is this a townhouse complex? I'm asking because the sign says "Developer Maintained" - and those townhouse complexes are typically all private property and do not meet the definition of a highway under the HTA, even though some of them have intricate roads complete with stop signs and all.

Nothing odd about "The Corporation of the Town of Ajax ...

Re: Failing to Report an Accident or Not

It's late 2011...many insurance companies don't look further than 3 years for convictions. Shop around and you should be able to find one with a good rate. You'll lose the loyalty discount but shouldn't take a hit on the conviction if it's older than three years.

Re: License Plate cover - OPP / Police in General

I wonder if it's different since you're HSD and I assume you have a workstation in your vehicle to do simple checks. The guys here call all plates into the com centre - parked, rolling, traffic stop, etc., and the dispatcher runs it through CPIC and ISS. I'd say a comment along the lines of "your marker was run yesterday morning by Peel, nothing ...

Re: The Fast Lane

I'm doing 100 and the limit is 100, notice how I'm not gaining on any traffic except the Jeep? It's a 9-year old Ford with a plugged cat.

Traffic was light enough that the vehicle coming up on the Jeep slowed down for it and eventually passed it on the left. After the slow merge, the Jeep eventually passed me at the next off-ramp.

The difficultly would be in finding a way to argue that the turn was safely made - especially since a collision occurred.

Re: License Plate cover - OPP / Police in General

It snowballs the more often you get pulled over. The next officer to run your plates will hear back that those same plates were run two days ago. Officer after that hears that they were run two days ago as well as four days ago. They get curious as to why you're being run so often and pull you over to check.

I do remember the letter that was ...

Re: The Fast Lane

Slow merging = Stoopidity, but that's just my personal opinion.

However, there have been numerous times I have gotten on to the 407 at Neyegawa heading east and some sally who for whatever reason decides it's ok to get to the end of the ramp doing 70!!

The flow of traffic in this area is around 110-120 at pretty much all times of the day. This ...

There's also:

Exception
(4) A driver of a road service vehicle entering an intersection within a lane other than one described in subsection (2) or (3) may make a right turn from the approach lane if the turn can be safely made. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 141 (4).

Re: Rear end collision

Often the vehicle body will be out of alignment in a rear end collision. This isn't visible unless you specifically look for it - trunk lid is slightly askew, position of left rear tire is different from right rear tire, rear door no longer closes easily, etc. It costs a lot to fix this, and in fact insurance companies will total most vehicles with ...
