And get rid of the section that specifically allows passing on the right.

Re: The Fast Lane

There are probably signs posted prohibiting drivers from moving right in an HOV lane except in designated areas.

-observed a 4-door compact Nissan approaching southbound from intersection of Roseland
-observed continuous acceleration of vehicle
-not sure, could mean radar was targeted on vehicle in lane #2 at 68 metres, took two readings of 72 km/h

Re: The Fast Lane

In my opinion, it is a violation of HTA 148(2) if a driver does not move right when overtaken by another vehicle - regardless of vehicle speed.

Re: Is this Careless or a Mistake?

It's HTA 148(5):
Vehicles or equestrians overtaking others
(5) Every person in charge of a vehicle or on horseback on a highway who is overtaking another vehicle or equestrian shall turn out to the left so far as may be necessary to avoid a collision with the vehicle or equestrian overtaken, and the person overtaken is not required to leave more ...

Re: Drive hand held communication device

Out of 7000+ vehicles where I was specifically watching for distracted drivers, I didn't see a single texter with a device mounted to the vehicle or placed securely within. I would not count the cupholder as secure, as the device will flop around in it. I use a stand on an anti-slip mat and I would consider that to be the bare minimum. I did see ...

Distracted driver

Caught a doozy recently. It might take a few views to figure out which car to watch for, but at the beginning of the video, there is a red pickup off in the distance that pulls out in front of what looks like a white Ford Edge. Watch what it does.

Re: first speeding ticket

With a 5-over ticket and a spotless record (up to now), I think most insurers will forgive it. I was able to get two minor speeding tickets before the age of 22 and my insurer forgave both with no rate increase (although I did get a phone call on the second one that warned me not to get a third). My opinion, unless there is a fatal error on the ...

Re: Drive hand held communication device

The exemption for pressing buttons on a communications device requires that the device be placed securely in or mounted in the vehicle so that it does not move while the vehicle is in motion. It can't be in your hands.

Re: Cellphone ticket while looking for address

On the shoulder would be off the roadway, so that meets condition 1. You would be unlawfully parked if, say, you pulled to the side of a busy four-lane city street and claimed you weren't moving while using your cell phone. That would violate conditions 1 and 3. You are also "unlawfully parked" if you try to use your cell phone while stopped at a ...

Re: Cellphone ticket while looking for address

I did distracted driver counts for OPP a few months ago, and as far as coffee went I drew the line at whether or not they used the cup holder. If they took a sip and placed it back, that was fine. Those who were holding the cup and steering with one hand (or with the coffee cup pressed against the steering wheel) were recorded as a distracted ...

Insurance should pay out without a conviction, but this will be deemed an at-fault collision and will likely affect your rates in the future.

Re: Fail to move into another lane for emergency vehicles?

Just a few points:

1) If your mother doesn't speak any English, you will need to notify the Court ahead of time so that an interpreter can be present. You (or your family) are not allowed to translate for her since you could be considered bias.

2) Don't make the mistake of addressing the officer's attitude during the trial, it's irrelevant to ...

Re: paid ticket 3 days late, will my license be suspended?

I think Toronto's Diamond Lanes were around before HOV lanes existed in Ontario. I remember those being just the taxi/bus/bike lanes before the "3 or more persons" signs were added in the mid-90s. That's why Toronto has its own "HOV lane" bylaw.

FYI you can't park within 9 meters of an intersection or crosswalk in Toronto.
