Re: 8 Month Pregnant Wife Gets Big Ticket on 24

The officer was well within their rights to do what was done. However, the sticking point here may be what speed zone was your wife in when the speed reading was taken? The officer will have to prove which zone, 80, 60 or 50 the vehicle was in to make the speed stick.

The failure to produce the insurance card might get tossed, depends on the ...

Don't think of it as working hard, more like making sure all information is accurate and correct. That is what you are doing by fighting a ticket.

No, you get adjourned....unless it's the court appointed interpreter, then it's up to the JP.

Should I simply forget English on the trial date and plead guilty?

Your understanding of your native tongue is the main concern for the court. They can put on the biggest horse and pony show, but if you don't fully understand even one word the whole thing gets tossed. Fortunately, we do allow accused people to stand up to the charges, which need ...

Yep. I don't claim to know anything about the device or the manual, so if the procedure she used is different, the evidence from the device should be excluded. However... if I were to take a guess... a zero-velocity fixed distance test seems to be what the officer did do... but I don't know for sure.

No the officer testified she did only the ...

Re: Is the registered owner on the hook for impound?

Not fact but, with the signed ownership the car is no longer your relatives. This was a trade for services. The other person know of this, however without a lot of paperwork it's hard to prove. The "other" guy did not register it under his name so that leaves your relative to explain the situation to all involved. He may have to get a copy of the ...

The appeal it's self usually has to do with the trial.....and to launch a full appeal you need the transcripts. You don't need the transcripts to file the appeal but you will need them later.

If the cop shows up and sees that I'm pleading guilty in an attempt to lower the fine and the charge, could he try to influence the prosecutor otherwise?

In fact, could prosecutor increase charge and fine because of such notes?
Officers have been known to "suggest" a sentence or offer their opinion of the accused.
