What probably happened is one of the cars that was turning left tripped the red light camera. This is what I would do:
Take the photographs that were provided to you, and take a note of sections 144 - 18 and 144 - 19 of the Highway Traffic Act. 144 - 19 is the part that allows you to turn right on a red. It may be helpful to photograph the ...

Re: Error on Ticket
I agree with Reflections.
Pleading guilty to a lesser charge should work if you're concerned about the level of the fine and demerit points. If you want to fight this charge, there are some other ways to go about it, though. As for the First Attendance, as much as possible try to convince the Prosecutor that you're trying to save the court's time ...

Re: Red Light Camera offense
Couple of things about your ticket. As it was a red light camera offence, there will not be any demerit points and your insurance rates will not be affected if you pay, as you are being charged as the vehicle owner.

Re: No U-Turn Ticket help!
If you were charged with "disobey sign," it's beatable. I know the area. Is this the Tim Horton's that is adjacent to a Mac's and across the street from Petro-Canada? If so, I don't recall any "no left" turns. First and foremost, send the ticket in with the "not guilty" option checked off and set up a trial. Go back and take photographs of the ...

Re: Following too close alternate charge?
My bad. I'd still be willing to bet that this charge can be beaten in court. Without a collision, where's the proof that he was following too close? Gets very subjective from there.

Re: Following too close alternate charge?
Out of curiosity, since it was a speed trap and there were two officers on site at the time even though only the one issued the ticket do both have to show in court if I can't get this bargained down?
If one identified you as the offending vehicle and the other one flagged you down, then yes, both have to attend. Also, "following too closely ...

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave.
I drove by Allen & Eglinton today. Zyrynx is right, there is no sign indicating no turn. I also noticed that it was either all full green or full red, since it's the end of the Allen Expressway. So take a photograph showing that there is no sign. Read over the disclosure package you get carefully. See if there's anything that the officer saw that ...

The incident is before the courts, so I can not comment.
Roger.
A driver receives a call on the handfree.
Caller: "Honey, it's on the news, there is a driver travelling the wrong way on a highway where you are!"
Driver: "One?!?!?! There are THOUSANDS!!!"
Caller: "THOUSANDS?! WOW!"

Re: Right to remain silent
Did your brother stop his vehicle and talk to the other driver at the site of the incident? I was not 100% sure. If they stopped, did they exchange information? If not, did they both talk about it and say "ah, no damage, forget it"? Without the full picture, it's hard to offer any real advice here. The only thing I can say, without knowing what the ...

Re: More weird driving
Hey, Brampton is several times worse than Toronto; I'd say it's worse than Scarborough.
Worse in terms of people who don't know how to drive? I live in Scarborough, I'd say that about 70% of the drivers who live in this part of the city have absolutely no clue about anything related to driving. I don't know if Brampton is worse but I'd say they ...

Re: Ban the Cell Phones Law
That's always been my hypothesis as well, but then why does the predominant 'reasoning' seem to be that a real passenger knows how to shut up during tense moments?
Good question... I believe that it's because it is a simple, succinct explanation, and the whole "mental image" thing seems a bit abstract, even though I think the "mental image" idea ...

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave. - No right turn on Red Light???
If I recall correctly, the sign isn't above the light, it's on the right side of the road as you approach the traffic light at Eglinton. You're right in that bilingual defence won't work in this case. Would be worth driving by, however, and seeing if the sign is posted on the right side of the road, adjacent to the right lane. If there's nothing ...
