Re: Use of 'centre' lane

I updated my Drivers Ed a couple years ago (the only 40-something in a class full of 16-yr.olds, LOL) and was miffed to learn that they STILL teach newbs to drive in the "lane of least resistance". They treat all lanes as equals.

I think it would take a massive media effort to get this country to appreciate the safety benefits of the same lane ...

The more the municipalities make, the less they need from the Provincial Government. Therefore, the Provincial government (in effect) profits as well.

Re: Virginia has a $3000 (USD) speeding ticket...

The Virginia laws are similar to those in New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina and Texas -- all designed to raise tens of millions of dollars for state transportation. Virginia legislators hope to raise between $65 and $80 million for transportation projects this year alone from the new fines.
Critics say that essentially makes it a regressive tax ...

Re: Following to close: no accident

Moms ALWAYS want to pay quick because they're terrified of their babies getting in serious trouble with the law. My boys friend has a mother that claimed she would rather pay her son's extra insurance rate than to see him anywhere near a courthouse.

NEVER LET MOM'S GIVE ADVISE ON TICKETS! LOL. It's YOUR money and driving record at stake. You're ...

Stationary vehicle: If I can not see the driver and seatbelt going across their shoulder it is too dark.

OK, YOU have chosen to interpret this statue in this manner and have been rewarded with 100% convictions. But, typically, us members of the general public have ...

Re: I really wasn't too close

I think it could be argued that you weren't actually "following" AT ALL. Lets say the truck was stopped or driving slowly. Since you were in a different lane all together (initially) the definition of following would not apply to you. If you moved over and struck the truck due to a "sudden" appearance of heavy fog, then you still weren't really ...

Re: Car Windows Tints allowance in Ontario (mississauga, gta, etc)

Interesting...

The statute describes view-obscuring "COLOUR" or "REFLECTIVE" material. However, if dark tint is not considered reflective, than I should be able to use it to protect my interior from harmful UV rays, No?

If the sole purpose of this section was to make certain that law enforcement can see the driver at all times, then why doesn't ...

Re: busted brake line get me out of this?

Try having your mechanic write a note stating the equipment failure. Bring it with your estimate to court.

You have a reasonable explanation for the accident. Unless the Crown can come up with some other evidence that you were following to close, you should have a pleasant day in court ;)

Read the "Steps" at TicketCombats site for court ...

Re: Fail to obey signs when passing an OPP cruiser

Hmmmmm.....
...
...Got it!!!

1) Get McGuinty to have Fantino instruct his officers to drive 3 (or 4) cruisers abreast across all lanes of the 401 from Windsor to Toronto, at, or about 100 kph (to demonstrate how safe the highway would be at the speed limit).

2) Wait for election day.

3) Watch the McGuinty government become a thing of the past ...

Re: Fail to obey signs when passing an OPP cruiser

Very clever Ref. LOL. Your "period" button is broken, too! LOL

Just thought of something:
- If a couple buddies and myself drive side-by-side down the 401, at the speed limit, mile after mile, blocking all 3 lanes, would we not essentially be duplicating this officers actions?
- Would it be legal for us to do that?

Yup. That's me!!

I , too, don't care for the sound of a "coffee-can" muffler stuck on to the back of a Civic, but I DO love the roar of a big American V8 blowin' noise out the back of an old car.

I have a pair of vintage Walkers for my GTO (as in pic, below). The caption in the ad ...
