I'm willing to bet the cop felt so bad for your daughter he "accidentally" forgot to file the ticket with the court within the required 15 days
There are some thoughtful, sensitive cops out there after all.

Re: Car Crushing Michael Bryant is in some hot water !
Do cyclists really grab on to your car and go for a free ride in Toronto??
Anyone touches my personal property and I'm going to consider that hostile. He's going to get his fingers super-gloo'd to the handle and taken for a ride he'll never forget!
What the heck are these guys thinking?

Case Law submission...
When submitting case law for reference to a defense argument, is there a specific point during the trial that you must pass the copies to the JP and Crown? Or do you just refer to the case during final arguments and pass along the copies when requested?

Re: Don't try to beat the train
Before I could drive, I watched Dirty Marry & Crazy Larry (GREEEAAAT Movie! Shocking ending!!!). Then, when I was 16, I came across an accident scene where a classmate had been hit by a fairly slow moving train in his 70 Lemans. The entire passenger side of the car pushed him right up against his drivers door (cabin width = 2' +/-), but he lived ...

Re: driving on multilane highway
you are driving on a single lane highway and as you approach an
intersection two right lanes appear. the curb right lane is for right turns
but the other lane which starts just before the intersection goes through the intersection and terminates just past the intersection.
If on a driving test, do I have to change into the new right lane
and then ...

"I'm currently seeking legal advice and I'll meet with you in court on the date of the trial. But feel free to make your offer and I'll consider it."
Something like that. Be prepared for scare tactics. "The offer must be accepted now or will be withdrawn." That kind of thing.

Re: Texting on Cellphone while driving
Good Vid. Too bad most kids won't get the message because they don't give a *EDIT* what old people tell them (people over 30!).
I've said it before, cell phones will cause the next wave of destruction on our highways, but I some how suspect we'll still see that all too common sound bite "Speed was a factor" slipped in to the reports.

Re: 144(18) - should I plead not quilty?
I never use the disclosure form that comes in the mail. I also ignore all threats and snide remarks from any employee at the courthouse. After all, they aren't paying my insurance bill, are they.
To ignore all offers and proceed directly to trial is completely up to you. If it were me, though, I would wave off all attempts at a plea bargain and go ...

Chicken!
You'll meet with the prosecutor minutes before court starts. Just wait with the crowd until an announcement is made. Ask if he'll consider lowering the charge to Improper Equipment (muffler) or something. If he offers you a better deal, just let him lead you through the process.
