Looks like hwybear at a road side stop for someone who didnt move over when he had his lights on cause they were talking on a cell phone.
You know with this law, i dont know how common it will be enforced.
Can you give multiple charges?
Such as careless driving, and then add ...

Re: Law on Speeding and Radar Textbook
"The Law of Traffic Offences Ontario" by S.C. Hutchison is a great book with lots of case law on every page. There IS a section on Speeding, though not particularly detailed. I had no problem getting a copy locally by ordering it at a book store.
I always intend to get the "Speeding..." book too, but never got around to it. I could use a copy ...

Re: Recommendations for college courses before applying/testing.
Thanks neat to know.
Squishy like for example let's say you applied for OPP. But you were interested in working for a traffic detachment or Highway Safety Division?
Could you specify this in your application. Would they give you something close by, your in Orillia so maybe barrie,407 detachment, toronto one, etc or could they force you to go ...

Re: And another reason to strike down S.172
Ya i just read that to.
I wonder what Julian Fantino thinks of the road side trial now?
This is exactly why this law is garbage.
I like what the guy says about he is still down about 900 $ for the towing and storage fees.
172, needs to be changed and or scrapped.
Just one of thousands of people in Ontario screwed over by this law.
Justice ...

Re: Speeding 139 - June10 Court Date
COrrect me if i am wrong i got a close up of this device in the manual.
There is no button to select the direction.
I have seen a demo of an in car unit it might have been an Eagle or a Genesis 2 but the officer has a bunch of buttons to select mode's and the antenna he wishes to use.
How would this kind of hand held (seems basic) device do that ...

Re: Speeding 139 - June10 Court Date
The yellow lines are just to illustrate the "radar" beam or the direction of his weapon. There are possibilities.
but what i am trying to show is that with nothing in the middle what is there to not say he read someone else oncoming.
The green X's are cars and the red would be his location.
With this device, and being so far back with how wide ...

Re: Speeding 139 - June10 Court Date
Okay secondly.
Disqualify the officer?
I don't think so, you can try to have the charge dropped wording it carefully that due to a lack of training, or no proper certification approved by the company and or the OPP, justifies that this officer is not properly trained to use the specific radar device.
If this fails i would complain there is no ...

Re: Recommendations for college courses before applying/testing.
Peel is now requiring a degree?
Jeeze at least before they had hard physical testing.
I thought police were to "Serve and Protect"
I always wondered in what way a degree makes you a better officer?
I can understand the need to pass tough physical testing and other tests such as driving ability, mutli tasking, awareness, how you react to various ...

Re: Electronic Device Legislation
Sure we could make legislation for that now to racer.
We could call it the Two hands on wheel Legislation.
And make it illegal to use your hands for anything else but controlling or operating a motor vehicle.
Then we could have a long legislation with all the exceptions listed.
Like tip tronic, or manual transmissions
Paddle Shift

Re: Aerial Surveillance
Question.
Does the Plane actually have some sort of Radar and or Lidar to check speed.
I am going to guess that is a NO.
So they use markings on the road or something.
What if he screwed up or counted them wrong or lost track?
Does the officer down below have to get a reading on a lidar/radar unit?
How are the plane operators trained to read ...

Re: Electronic Device Legislation
Ahh this brings up some good technical questions.
First of all isnt a GPS an wireless communication device capable of sending data. A blackberry does that to? Whats the difference. Both are distracting.
Oh wait but what if i decide to use a GPS program on my blackberry.
The built in one is safe but the phone one is not?
I thought all this was ...
