Ya I hear you tdrive2. Just looking at the OREG455/07 makes you ask a lot of question, one for each the definitions.
Why is "Marked departure from the normal flow of traffic" means 50 over the speed limit? Someone doing 151 when everyone else is doing 149 is by no means a "marked departure"? Tapp proved that in court apparently.
Why is that when ...

Horrible behaviour
Just happened two and a half hours ago
Left Hamilton to go back home to Guelph. Took York Road (King's Hwy 2) to Hwy 6. Stopped at the red light there, then I get advanced flashing green lights. Proceed to make a turn (there is a vehicle on Plains Rd. W. stopped on his red), and a yellow Sunfire just rips through the corner, making a right turn ...

That would double, if not triple, the amount of cars on the road, and make those who can't drive drive more!tdrive2 wrote:Maybe a law banning all passengers would be more realistic to.

Guelph's 12 sites for car crashes
Local Guelph Tribune newspaper had the city's "dirty dozen of crash locations". All data is based on the number of crashes there were in 2008. I'll post my own notes too.
Stevenson St. N. @ Speedvale Ave. E. (Don't know that area, but Stevenson is a long, though non-major street)
16 crashes
Gordon St. @ Stone Rd. (this is right beside ...

"Stop here on red signal" sign is basically shown instead of a white line.

Police radios are encoded, so commercially available scanners (I know you're thinking NASCAR scanner or similar) wouldn't work.

Re: Following too close alternate charge?
One of the good things about the OHTA is that the prosecutor can charge you with an unrelated offence upon plea bargain. You might get charged with a by-law infraction instead upon plea, which would have no demerit points associated with it. However, request disclosure if you haven't done so already, see what they have.

Re: Change of location?
Well, you can move the court date a couple times, may be more, depending on circumstances and the way you word your circumstances to the courts, but you will eventually have to face the music (and the trial, which can be conducted in your absense, and yes, you can be found guilty in absentis).

Re: Ban the Cell Phones Law
Wouldn't privacy laws prohibit the cellphone companies from giving this information? Also, I am not sure that any of the phone calls are recorded, that is a huge privacy infringement and that would get decried very quickly.

A driver receives a call on the handfree.
Caller: "Honey, it's on the news, there is a driver travelling the wrong way on a highway where you are!"
Driver: "One?!?!?! There are THOUSANDS!!!"

Haha, that's a good option - the trial will likely be so far away, that the cop won't remember/show up.liveontheedge wrote:and request a trial in French and let us know what the court date is.

Re: Change of location?
Given that the original court date is likely to be 6 or so months away, if not more, then yes.
