Good point. When you are already getting ripped off because of sky-high insurance rates, there is no point in giving them any justification for it.admin wrote:Every ticket counts!racer wrote:Small tickets like that usually do not count.

Re: Bad Wreck down the road...
Good job responding to crash within minutes! Paramedics' most often complain about getting to the scene too late, sometimes by just minutes.

Re: Charges laid in rural hit and run - dead horse
P.S. The first safety mod I did on my bike was installing a 130dB horn, to replace the inaudible stock tweeter
Do you wear earplugs before starting the motorcycle? 130 dB will destroy 100% hearing in an hour!
The way it looks to me, there was a group of horse riders spread out all over the road. If they want to spread out, they can ...

Re: Should I fight my 15km/h over speeding ticket?
Small tickets like that usually do not count. Not as much at least. Having a 30-49 over will, most definetly, increase your insurance rate, as the companies view it as "Major speeding" offence. 15 over you are looking at insurance increase of $200 per year at most, and, quite possibly, no increase whatsoever. Is this your 1-st ticket?

He deserves all he's gonna get, if you ask me.
I was hoping the guy would get assault or dangerous driving. That is nuts. Sounds like he deliberately hit the horse and rider. Obviously he's completely off his rocker.
But since he wasn't going more than 50 kilometres an hour over the posted speed limit, he'll just get a pat on the wrist.

Re: Booster Seats
There was a case, unapplicable as it it is in the US, of a driver charged on a parking lot of a hospital in Dallas as he was hurrying trying to get to see his dying mother-in-law. The officer took his time and acted rude and threatened the driver, a Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats, who did not identify himself as an NFL player at the time ...

The driver has been charged with "Careless Driving" and "Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident". He will appear in Owen Sound court on May 14. Looks like a license will be suspended...

Re: Case Law Update
Else Lloyd must be so used to rip past the rest of us folk at 50 km/hr over THEIR speed that, when the traffic was moving 130, he felt it was his duty to overtake everyone as if they were standing still, without even realizing how fast everyone else was going.

Re: Case Law Update
OPP Constable Lloyd Tapp accused of driving 180km/h testified he wasn't paying attention to the speedometer but was going with the flow of traffic. He said he would never drive at such "ridiculous" speeds. "Personally, it's against my code of ethics to travel at that speed."

Passing in itself is not, however, speeding while passing may be illegal. How fast was the LEO going, what was the speed limit, and how fast were you going when you overtook him/her?

Re: Charges laid in rural hit and run - dead horse
There was another accident awhile ago, where not one but two horses were killed, the driver wrote the car off, so he had to stick around.!
Wasn't there a certain police officer who was also charged under 172 who did something similar? Or are we referring to the same incident ? I read somewhere that his case was scheduled for March 11 this year ...
