Given this is your first ticket, the prosecutor might just give you a by-law infraction instead, which will be a fine but no demerits. Your ticket does carry 2 demerit points. Fight the ticket, wait times in Toronto are almost a year, the officer wasn't kidding.

I would suggest waiting for the trial date to arrive. Do not hurry the proceedings in any way, keep your options open for 11B. File a 2-nd request with registered mail after you receive the trial date, indicate that this is a 2-nd request, can't hurt you. Looking at it closely, the ambulance was only in the way for a few seconds. It did pull over. The reason it didn't pull over initially was because there was a car on the shoulder. The call that the officer was going to was not a priority. He didn't even get out of his cruiser when he arrived at the call scene.

I think that you can always ask the cop for the badge number, and they cannot deny you the information about that.

Well, for one, increased insurance premiums of $200 per month or more are much harder to pay over a while than shelling out a few hundred for the representation, never mind the actual ticket that you won't have to pay. Well, I would definitely not bring up THAT in court, because this make you sound as if you were under influence of alcohol or something else at the moment, thus discrediting your whole story.
