No where will you find an 80km/h zone transition directly to a 50km/h zone, that not safe due to a drastic difference in high to low speeds.
there are hundreds of 80-50 zones.
County Rd 46 (South Woodslee), just street view near 1612 County rd 46, South Woodslee, can see both signs 50 and the 80, plus that area also adds in a community safe zone ...

Re: Disclosure Question
What has happened is this is obviously a saved computer generated form and the officer just didn't change the colour of the vehicle/times correctly when translating his/her notes to typed.

You not only have to have time to make the turn, but have to be able to get up to and or near the speed limit. Neither you or your son would be able to see brake lights of the vehicles.

ah, ok. gotcha nowSquishy wrote:I only see one black-and-white sign designating the left lane as a turn lane only. The OP used the centre lane which is not designated by any enforceable sign, as far as I can tell. Only a painted arrow within the lane itself.

Re: Different speed limits on each direction of the road
basically i'm fighting the fact its not a 50km/h zone. should I go try to get something done before I enter a plea or enter the not guilty plea and go through the proceedings regularly and make the officer look silly like he doesn't even know what the speed limit is in an area he's handing out speeding tickets?

there is an actual black and white sign in the images above designating the laneSquishy wrote:Does the intersection still look as Google Street View has it, i.e., no actual black and white signs to designate lane usage? If so, you might be able to beat the charge as there were in fact no signs to disobey.

it appears from you photos....for the left lane (yonge street north), there is a "cautionary" yellow sign saying left lane exits (not enforceable), however after that there is the "left lane must turn sign" (enforceable), plus arrows on the pavement.......so like Stanton, I am confused what happened

Re: valid speeding defence?
It's a real piss off that in an area where the signage is messed up and its a transition zone from 50 or 60 to an 80km/h zone thats where a cop hangs out.
there are absolutely NO transition zones when the speed limit increases. Just b/c one can see a sign or knows about a sign 300m or 1000m ahead does not make it legal to just stomp on the ...

The bottom line is, why a heck they require you to carry this document, when they can pull off all required infomration, including registration and insurance, from the computer which is mounted in every cruiser, based on your driver's license number or any other legal id you have on you?

exactly Stanton...plus how is one using lidar out a window and the cruiser "video" apparently having a radar reading? car would be parked different from direction of lidar....and a MC can increase and dump speed very quickly...none of this article makes sense with what little info is on it..

Re: valid speeding defence?
tthe last 50km/h speed limit sign for southbound traffic is 60 metres before the 50km/h speed limit sign for northbound traffic. If this defense is not good enough i wanted to know if the last 50km/h sign does not meet HTA regulations could that section of dougall ave. technically be an improperly posted 60km/h zone??

just for clarification for you and others....you did not receive a "ticket" (provincial offence notice), what you received was a summons!

Re: Stunt / excessive speed charge dropped and now recharged
sounds like the initial court date was made in error and the prosecutor could not deal with it due to an error on the paperwork, therefore another summons was typed up with a proper court date
