Re: Ticket Help

I have worked Hwy 402. As like the 401 west of London it is a very straight forward area to conduct speed enforcement. Not many interchanges (on/off ramps) no collector lanes, simply 2 lanes each direction. Easy to see someone passing or accelerating away from another vehicle (hence visual observations)

In these areas of the 401 there are several ...

Re: Right/Left Turn Help

As most driving it is about eye lead. Do not look at the painted lines. You want to look to the centre of the lane you are turning into, once you start the turn you should be looking at least 100m down the road in that lane.

Once straight eye lead is at least 500m to 1km on highways, that way you can see other vehicles braking for situations and ...

I only put on the road name (ie Hwy 400N) where the offence took place. I only add a 2nd road name if the offence is a collision at an intersection with another road.

Other officers do put the 2nd road name as a reference point of the infraction (ie Hwy 400N and Rutherford) OR a reference point as to where the vehicle was stopped. (ie Hwy 400N and ...

In this case, Lisence, Ownership and Insurance were provided, and no mechanical defects were noted. No "safety" concerns resulted from this stop, but the stop transgressed in to NON-safety related statute violation. Sure it's a long-shot, but I'D try it, if I were me :?. Speed definition: to cause to move, go, or proceed

If speed was not involved how did the collisions occur?

Two stationary objects do not touch one another. So one has to have speed.

One article the vehicle came "ploughing" through the front of the store, certainly was not stationary at the curb, but moving with some speed.

Exactly...go back to the USA.

We can stop any vehicle anytime, just to ensure the vehicle is insured and the ...

Don't see much biased in that. Just results from a long weekend. They maybe could have said there was approx "X" million travellers this past weekend with only "X" thousand stopped, therefore over 99 % were driving properly.

Judge is actually a JP (Justice of the Peace) who can not lower the ticket or demerit points. Having said that, you could always speak with the Prosecutor and see if you can have it reduced. If the prosecutor and you agree on a resolution, that will be brought before the JP. Just remember points are ...

I do strongly feel that there should be a meaningful campaign to publicize this law. Awareness and, more to the point, compliance, would spread a heck of a lot faster if there were something more than just the slow word-of-mouth dissemination that being caught, or having friend caught, has been causing to happen so far.

Someone was listening to ...

Re: Correction for posting, is this law 6 years old

Rather than promoting speed, there is a better solution.

Have all manufacturer's install a siren/warning device in every vehicle made. When emergency lights are activated it will set off this device. It would start at 1km to give motorists a headup to start slowing down and getting out of the way. The closer one gets the faster the tone becomes ...

Guess police cars could always use a school bus arm type of thing (ones that pop forward to make kids walk farther from the front), but out into the lane.....made of flexible plastic with a metal claw on the end.....drive too close the plastic bends allowing the car to pass by, but the vehicle then gets "paint scraped" by "the claw"....

I agree entirely that sheer common sense would make any alert driver slow down and move over at least one lane to stay well away from any emergency vehicle on the side of the road with its lights activated, law or no law. Personally, I slow down and stay as far away from the thing as possible: whatever's going on over there, I don't want to be ...
