It is brothers and sisters in BLUE
And I fully support them 100%.
If you stand back at look at the stats that have been collected on a unbiased perspective there are several issues not mentioned.
- Convictions for 172 (straight foward stat)
- Reduced to speeding (in other words they pled guilty to the speed involved...so instead of a minimum $2k ...

Re: Street racing?
And Maybe Hwybear can confirm this for me please
If I was charged under this section of HTA
And I was to argue/state my point on the roadside
Is it possible for me to receive a 5K fine for doing so,fact or fiction?
FICTION...police do not set the fine at all...issue a summons for a court date and the JP decides the fine....it is supposed to be ...

Re: Just Got Ticket !?
Reflections in right on the nose :!:
Expired = no licence at all.
Lucky day for you that the officer was so nice and let you continue....I personally would not have.
Even more luck that you did not have a collision.....I have yet to see/hear of an insurance company covering the cost of a collision when the actual owner who is driving does not ...

Re: Emissions Test
I lost track how many etests I have had to do on my 2000 Ford....never has been a problem. I keep the maintenance up, otherwise it will snowball in expense.
I would like to see testing after 10 years as well....with absolutely no age limit. Just went to a "old car" festival.....I love old cars....but choking all the time when one was turned on ...

In the interest of full disclosure, I would like to preface this review with a confession. I have never cared much for Julian Fantinos public persona.

Re: Errors and Omissions
When you describe a "long form" summons, I would assume you are describing the Part III summons, which you swear to before a Justice of the Peace (extra leg work and cost). I see no other section in the Act that describes this "long form" you mention.
Not being argumentative. Just trying to learn stuff... ;)
Not a problem.

Re: What are your Driving Pet Peeves?
- improper merging (not entering at hwy speed....can I say Toronto)
Getting a ticket on a merge ramp to a highway for exceeding the 30kph to 70kph limit on those ramps. Where exactly do those limits end?
Unless the signs are posted with a white background and black letters they are NOT enforceable. You are probably referring to yellow speed ...

90 day ADLS and 12 hour suspension are actually both Provincially imposed suspensions, HTA 48. FYI

Re: Errors and Omissions
Police have up to 6 months to lay the charge OR reserve the person if there is an error on an original document. A long form summons is typed up and served on the person.
Maximum 30 days is only to re-issue an offence notice or Part III summons.

Re: What are your Driving Pet Peeves?
Where to start..... :D
- fail to move right and/or stop for emergency vehicles
- fail to move LEFT for stopped police vehicles
- having the hwy closed (usually pylons, flares, cruiser x-ways, lights on, MTO arrow trucks) and someone stops and asks "Is the road closed" or "Is there an Accident"
Sure some of these will tweak others minds ...

Re: Street racing?
I have heard that also, but have not seen anything in B&W. I heard it was going to be in October and apparently a 320 page document. This info I have was from a local paralegal, who said literally said "I don't have time to read all that BS, as it apparently it is a rights issue and yet driving clearing written is a priviledge".
