Re: Demerit Points for Out-of-Province Convictions

Can Ontario Canadian's get Demerit Points for Out of Province Offences while driving in the United States?
Yes! However, only TWO states can apply Demerit Points towards your Ontario Drivers License. The State of New York, and the State of Michigan.

Interesting.......when the HTA OREG 339/94 section 4(1) reads...

Re: Demerit Points for Out-of-Province Convictions

Here is HTA OREG 607. Lists Provinces and States that can SUSPEND your licence for non-payment of a traffic violation.

Re: Antique Radar Detector...

I do not have to make it work at roadside at all. As long as I can convince the court the purpose of the device. Some SMWD I can not get to work ever again, as I have "cut the cord"....others have been just the "display" as the horn portion is hidden in the front of the car.

This of course goes with my experience, I average 100-150 seizures a year ...

Nothing adds up at all to what your post indicates

Careless Driving = $325 and 6 points
TV in MV = $110 and 0 points

You are searching for the word......ADVISORY :)

It is advised that you travel "X" speed due to the curve although the maximum posted speed limit is still "Y".

Re: going 50 over the limit

Common geographical features such as a crown in the road or a bend in the road could quite easily exclude the cosine factor from the equation. Of course we have no idea of the topography in this case, but I doubt the officer will remember it either, 6 months down the road ;)]

A hill will not eliminate cosine. A curve will only eliminate cosine ...

Re: Street racing?

I'll throw another idea in the mix :D

Charge as normal at roadside....go to court.....when conviction registered 30 day suspension on 1st offence and $2000, 90 day on 2nd offence and $5000, 1yr on 3rd offence and $10000.

that should comprise the found guilty part, plus is a strong deterent and penalty should one be caught.....heck vote HB for ...

Re: going 50 over the limit

One motorist was luckier than *EDIT* the other night. Clocked at 164km/hr, just caught a glimpse of me and started braking, I was delayed on getting out behind due to a transport starting to pass. I called ahead to 2 units. Lost site due to a curve in the road. Co-worker stopped the vehicle just past the curve now at 129km/hr.

Re: going 50 over the limit

Tager's boyfriend had his car impounded because the officers speed equipment displayed 51kph over the limit. I doubt ANY manufacturers manual will claim to be more accurate than 2kph (as per the Pro Laser III manual) so it's quite possible he was doing 49kph over the limit. So, sure, he should have received a hefty fine, but not the extreme ...
