Re: Global TV's street racing special tonight

Think you are referring to Bill 203.

I have yet to watch it any of the episode, however if what you describe is part of it..........that is excellent.

Reason being IF the news does a documentary on an issue, they should do just that and not from a biased anti-law hating perspective and not from a pro law hammer everyone perspective.

The report ...

Re: Street racing?

Just lower all the governed speeds in vehicles and will not have these issues to this extent! Put them all at 130km/hr.

Re: Disobey Official Sign

Now you gave me a challenge for my next shift. B/C if that is 60m (not sure how you measured that) I can ot even read the word STOP. In our little neighbourhood, light standards are 100m apart and I see 2 on the left there.

If I remember I will approach a stop sign, when I can clearly read it, I will take a lidar reading of the distance.

Does this just not refer to section 20 itself with pedestrian cross overs?

Seems weird if it applies to the complete regulation to jam it in the middle of all the signs?

Re: Reduction from Careless Driving: Good Deal or Bad Deal?

for all paralegals....great topic. Here is a few things to pick your brain

- MV stopped and rear ended on a hwy

Most JP's will not convict on follow too close, stating if you have hit a car stopped for other traffic, clearly you are not paying attention and should have been charged with careless driving.

it's almost a darned if you do, darned if ...

The parks that I patrol each have 2 signs at the gate, both at about 3ft x 3ft, and each camper (site renter) is given it on a 8.5x11" piece of paper.

Re: Speeding in Community Safety Zone

You attack the foundation through the lack of disclosure. The officer cannot testify he tested the tuning forks because this is outsourced to another company (heresay).

Tuning forks have the speed stamped on them that represent what they are supposed to show when struck and held in front of an active radar antenna. If one would strike the fork ...

Re: This Act.

Based on all that's gone on here, regardless of anything, I think it's pretty clear that the law has a lot of problems as it stands and if it continues to stand, is going to cause a whole lot more in the future that will be regretted by police officers and the public alike.

There is no excuse for a law that is written this badly and no reason not ...

Re: This Act.

That's the Highway Traffic Act.

The information released to the pubic from the Attorney General's Office said the seizure was conducted under the Civil Remedies Act.

I believe there is a time limit which applies. You can't go on flip flopping about which act charges are going to be laid under forever.

No mention was made of the Highway ...

All this started last September 30th...2007.....such as why the definitions are referred to OREG 445/07

Which is the 455 Regulation passed in Ontario for 2007.
