Re: What if I ask for a trial and then change my mind?
You can just show up on your regular court date. They'll offer plea deals to everyone who shows up. If there's no more wiggle room on your charge for a reduction, you can just plead guilty to whatever is on your ticket.

Re: SPEEDING TICKET - wrong info
I received a speeding ticket and after a few days later while looking it over I noticed the officer bumped my speed up by 10 km more than what I was travelling!! Claiming I was doing 62km in a 40km zone. This is untrue. I looked at my speedometer when I noticed him and I was barely over 10km past the 40km limit. At the time, I thought to myself ...

Re: Already got a roadside break... should I request trial?
It would only delay your conviction.solidbs wrote:Can anyone verify if delaying the ticket through trial would save me on insurance?
If you have reason to want to delay this ticket (eg. another ticket from 2 years ago), then yes, you may be able to save on insurance that way. You'll have one ticket show up on your abstract instead of the two.

Re: "encouraging" an 11b?
2. I was thinking of 'encouraging' things to take more time by waiting to request disclosure, then requesting an adjournment because I won't have it yet. Placing the delay on the fault of the crown, and possibly delaying my case past the 11 or so months that would constitute a not-so-speedy trial. Are my assumptions here correct? Would they laugh ...

Re: no seatbelt and driving while under suspension.
I got my lisence back but I stilll have to go to court next week for these charges and I'm petrified! I'm 50 yrs old and feel like a child so scared. We haven't the means for me to get a lawyer or I would have done so.
Minimum fine for Driving while suspended is $1000 (plus surcharges and reinstatement fees), mandatory 6 month license ...

If your goal is to just get a reduction, you can do either or. In my opinion, i'd just schedule a trial and put some more space in between the 2 ticketstgatsbie wrote:What course of action is recommended to reduce the fine/lower the demerit points? Re: Couple of questions regarding a 50 in a school zone 40
(1) should I fight this, to save the insurance? I can hope the officer doesn't show up (change the date, etc), as for disclosure... Or maybe take pictures and show that the sign is not very clear (it's around a bit of a bend, and in the trees).
I wouldn't count on an officer to not show up. It doesn't happen as much as your friends or whomever ...

Re: Does speeding 10 km over the limit affect my record?
I had the same situation. Did 50 in a 40 zone which resulted in a $40 ticket, no demerits. Officer said that it will NOT go on the driver's abstract which is what the insurance company sees. Is that true?
It's zero demerit points, but it will be visible on your driving abstract. Whether or not your insurance provider uses it against you is up to ...

Re: Driving without front license plate
police in Ontario can stop any vehicle on the road to check DL, Insurance, and registration. No offense is needed. Checking for a plate is checking for registration. Maybe the vehicle had no plates at all.
Since they can stop any vehicle to check for those it is not a arbitrary detention. This was fought and decided years ago.

Re: Careless Driving WTF I couldn't have been any more Caref
While I somewhat admire your ambition, Careless Driving is not something to screw around with.
I'd say there's a good chance they may offer you some kind of plea deal that would nix Careless Driving for something else (eg. Following Too Closely). Personally, if I were in your shoes i'd take it and run. You're still going to be convicted, but you ...

Re: Red Light Camera Ticket in Toronto
I was driving in an area not well known to me. I was looking for the street I had to turn onto (would be a left turn) but was unsure how far I needed to go. I do not remember "running" a red light but I do remember being somewhat in distress as I was starting to worry I had missed my turn. So most likely I was coming up to the light and was ...

Re: Do I have any options?
1. I assume my best options if I want any chance of getting rid of this is to request a trial and request disclosure (is that what it's called? getting the officer notes, radar maintenance schedule etc?). What do I look for in all this? Assuming the ticket is without mistakes (I believe it is, but I'll double check tomorrow, it's at the office ...

There's little to say or do until a ticket is issued. You can kick back and relax in the meantime.

As already stated, driving 50+ over the posted limit is considered a stunt by itself.
And if convicted and my license is suspended for another 30 days...
Since you are a G2 driver, you're subject to Novice Driver Escalating Sanctions :
Your first offense (stunt driving) is a 4 or more demerit point conviction. It will carry a 30 day ...
