Re: Dumb girl damaged my car and wants to repay in installme

Are you sure it would go as my fault with insurance?

Stanton is correct. I misread your story about the other driver pulling out and skimmed through the part where you hit her square on the rear. I'd assumed you clipped her as she pulled out.

Insurance Fault Determination is there for many reasons. One reason being that everything is treated ...

Re: Dumb girl damaged my car and wants to repay in installme

You should have went through insurance. This driver is never going to pay you. You may get a payment here and there and then you're going to hear about how she thinks she's paid enough and you're asking too much. Then it's going to turn into "..well I don't think the accident was my fault and i'm not going to pay". You'll be dealing with excuses ...

Re: Speeding ticket question

Go to the courthouse as soon and possible and explain you never received a notice of trial.

It sounds like you were booked for a court date and for whatever reason you never received your notice in the mail. Your trial date comes and obviously you're not present. You're found guilty for no showing.

If you are driving your own dirt bike on your own property, do you actually need insurance? It seems that neither of the two sections below apply. Is this correct?

No, and neither would registration be required. Although, they are both needed if you plan on ever leaving your property. That includes whether you never plan on using public ...

Re: Improper Licence-dirtbike?

A license isn't required if you're not traveling on an Ontario Highway. You need a M class license when traveling on an Ontario "highway". Highway meaning basically any road maintained by the province. Just because a road is gravel, doesn't mean it isn't considered a highway. You would need your M class license, insurance specifically for your bike ...

Re: First Speeding Ticket, What should I expect in a trial?

I have recently received a speeding ticket for going 136 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. I am thinking about going to court to ask for a drop in the fines and a decrease in demerit points because I am a university student who can not afford increased insurance premiums.

Do you have your G license yet? If not, 30+ will get you a 30 day suspension with ...

Re: no rear seats / baby seat question

As far as I know, it's perfectly legal to have a child in the front seat of a car with these stipulations:

- The front airbag must be disabled. Some newer vehicles will do this automatically with sensors in the seat that detect the small weight.
- They're still using the appropriate booster seat.

Re: conviction or ticket start date

so when people try and delay the original ticket is this more to do with the 11b process of having a speedy trial.

I get what you're trying to say, but i'll try to clear it up for anyone who reads it the wrong way. It's your right to have a trial and be provided with the evidence against you. If that can't be provided without delays from the ...

Re: conviction or ticket start date

The day you were charged is there for the demerit points. Points start from the day you were charged (not convicted) and last 2 years. Doesn't matter if you requested a trial and it takes a year to conclude. In that case, the points wouldn't be on your abstract for that year and will only remain for the remaining year once convicted. The clock ...

Re: Passenger failing to wear seat belt - dispute?

You're cherry picking sentences here out of context.

REGULATION 613, 10, deals with motor vehicle manufactured without seat belt assemblies.

10. Where a motor vehicle manufactured without seat belt assemblies for each seating position and not modified so that there is a seat belt assembly for each seating position is driven on a highway,

(a ...

Re: First Accident - Careless Driving Charge

Careless Driving is a serious offense and you'd probably be better off considering any reduced charge in order to just avoid it. Demerit points are useless. Worry less about the points and more about avoiding a careless driving charge.

As for fighting the ticket, you turned into the middle lane (already illegal) to immediately move over to the ...

Re: Passenger - Fail To Properly Wear Seat Belt

Hello. I recently got a ticket for not wearing a seat belt in the back seat. I do not mind paying the fine, but I was told I will lose 2 derimet points for this. I do not have a driver's licence yet was told by a friend that the points will be automatically be deducted after I get my license. Is this true?

Passengers don't receive demerit points ...
