Sorry but I still say you are mistaken. Even the Crown Prosecutor would have to be in on it.

I've had that happen for a few days. I have to open page 1 and then go to the last page.

Officers reduce tickets on a regular basis. I only issued full tickets to someone who talked their way into it. A reduced ticket does not indicate that the officer is unsure of the charge and would not be a 'positive' for a defendant at trial.

Re: class g1 driver unaccompanied by a qualified driver
Your tickets are just three in hundreds that would have been written. There is no way that an officer is going to have a colleague dress up in his uniform and come to court in his place. Why would they both risk $100k per year jobs just to get one over on you. You are mistaken.

Re: First Timer...Please help!
It's only worth fighting it if you think you have a defence - which can include an error by the officer.
Points are administrative and not assigned by the court but by the MTO. Having said that I have heard JPs talk about reducing them although I'm not sure how that happens.

If the two officers were in the same cruiser and both saw the incident then they would only need one of them to testify.

Re: No insurance ticket
You are not going to be able to talk your way out of this. You either did or did not have insurance.
In some jurisdictions it is the person who is insured so if you had insurance on one vehicle you might be insured 3rd party only on another (but generally not one you own). In Ontario you insure the vehicle.
You say you follow the rules really ...

Re: Failing to stop for a school bus / handheld device
If you read this board you will see differing opinions on Early Resolution. I think it's a good idea and that you are likely to get a better deal before the Crown has spent time working on the case and getting it ready for trial, calling witnesses etc. Once trial day arrives he or she is ready for trial so may have less incentive to cut you a break ...

Re: Roadblock question
I would suggest that the road isn't closed in the meaning of the Act. This is a temporary situation hence no signage. It comes under failing to follow directions of a police officer and then the discussion is whether a cruiser with lights on is enough of a direction. personally I always angled my cruiser with the lights on and was out of the car to ...

Re: Failing to stop for a school bus / handheld device
These are not hard offences to prove assuming it was the police officer that saw you pass the bus. You may want to try to plead to one in exchange for the other being dropped.

We provided our shift schedule and vacation time to the Crown so we were always available. The days of coppers not being there are pretty much gone. Not completely but it isn't like it was in the old days.

Re: Received Notice of Trial - need advice on next step
1. Remember that you could bring anything to the court and say it was this you were holding. I will be up to the JP to determine which side has more credibility.
2. Absolutely you should have notes with and refer to them.
3. Yes completely. There might be something the officer says in testimony that you want to question in cross examination ...
