Re: Annual Vehicle Inspection Sticker
I think there is an exemption for personal use commercial-plated vehicles, but there cannot be anything of a commercial nature in the truck, not even tools or a toolbox.

Re: 142(2) - Start from parked position, not in safety
At a stoplight, no signal is required when proceeding directly forwards. When you are parked at the side of the road, you are considered to "turn" into the rightmost lane when you begin to move. Thus you must signal left when moving from a parked position. Try to pass a driving test without doing so - it won't happen.

Re: 142(2) - Start from parked position, not in safety
1) Never put your car in gear while stopped by an officer, unless you are cleared to do so.
2) Driving no faster than the speeding SUV next to you still means you were speeding.
So three cars were in the right-hand lane, with you in front. Cruiser was in the lane one over to the left (next to either of the cars behind you?). If so, I'm guessing ...

Re: What's the proper procedure to pass a car on a 2 lane road?
I have been driving the speed limit for the past three years, covering about 60,000 km. Aside from tailgaters, I have never had a problem on two-lane roads, nor have I been a safety hazard (and no, I'm not one of those oblivious drivers). Never been flipped the bird, not even a fist shaken in my direction. I did have one trucker honk as he passed ...

Not according to the province.
Maybe if you set it on cruise then crawled into the trunk.

Re: lift laws, bumper height laws, headlight height laws
Don't know of any bumper height restrictions in Ontario (they exist in BC and NS, probably more provinces), but your front headlamps must be between 559-1372 mm above the road surface and your rear taillights must be between 380-1830 mm above the road surface, measured from the centre of the housing at vehicle curb mass. This is specified in the ...

The truck came from the left hand side, but you hit him on the driver's side bumper? Did you avoid, swerve, then hit him afterwards?

"Fail to remain" under the HTA states "accident" not "collision," so I'm not sure what the interpretation of that is.

Re: 149km/h in a 100km/h Zone
Only for E-code standards. SAE allows the speedometer to read minus, though most manufacturers have their in-house tolerances.
EDIT: I was partly wrong. I dug up an old post of mine and got the numbers: SAE allows +/-5% (SAE Recommended Practice J1226) and EC allows +10% (ECR-39).
