I check a lot of plates and if the owner of any vehicle is "unlicenced" or an "improper licence class" I will be conducting a stop to check the licence status of whoever is driving, whether it is a 16yr old or 70 yr old.
Ditto! I call that investigative policing. The good news is that there are probably only a hand full of officers on the ...

There's a lot of issues in your post so I'll try to address some of them inline. I hope my responses don't come across as abrasive or rude, I'm just trying to be blunt and keep my answers brief.

You're welcome. Just be aware that by-laws involving prohibiting turns carry 2 demerit points as well.

Re: Improper Left Turn Offence (Yonge & Dundas)
I'm sure you would like to get the ticket dropped completely, most people would. However, I'm not sure if there's anything in your post that makes this likely. I don't think 10 months in Toronto is unreasonable. You might have an argument about the sign not being visible, if you can prove that somehow.
Good luck

Re: Suspended due to medical reason
A month is not an abnormal amount of time for a licence to get suspended by the time the hospital files their paperwork and the MTO reviews it.
It is a very difficult process to get it back after a medical suspension like this, because you have to prove to the MTO's satisfaction that it won't or is not likely to happen again...how do you do that ...

Re: proof of plate registration?
I don't think that holding on to the care offers any more value to the prosecutor to make their decision than a receipt and/or photocopy of the ownership. However, I don't know whether they will drop it or not. I guess it depends on your region, but in my experience they don't just drop the charge if you get your plates updated. If you get your ...

Re: Right turn Only Lane (Kennedy and Ellesmere)
Disobey sign is correct. The sign said right turn only in that lane and you did otherwise. You could argue the sign was too far back, but I don' think 50 meters is unreasonable.

This is referring to the 90 Day ADLS (Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension) that you get when you are charged with Over 80 or Refuse, not the 3/7/30 day suspensions.

You have to understand that the demerit points are non-negotiable. They are automatically attached to whatever offence you are convicted of. Neither police, prosecutor or judge have control over this. If you plea to a different offence with less points then you get those points.

60!? That's crazy!
Just to clarify for people, most (perhaps all?) municipal police services have access to the 3 year record, OPP and MTO have access to everything.

Agreed, the right extends to speaking with counsel of choice or duty counsel. Police will make all efforts to contact a specific lawyer if requested, but the right doesn't extend to making a personal phone call for any reason.
This is different than you see on American TV shows. Perhaps that's where the idea comes from.

Re: G2 BAC Above Zero
Perhaps we should clarify for people that all convictions on your driving record are permanent. They do not get erased. However, demerit points do drop off your record 2 years after the offence date and some people think this is synonymous with the conviction dropping off your record. This is not the case. Also, older convictions do not show up on ...
