Officer is not required to show you the speed measuring device anyway, doing so would be a courtesy. His testimony that the device indicated X speed is adequate.

Do some due diligence as well, you can check the online public portal of CPIC to check if an object has been reported stolen by it's serial number;

Just exercise caution when buying from less reputable sources, not just because the item may have a checkered past, but because its condition may ...

Re: Failure to Stop for Emergency Vehicle

You committed a series of offences. You were charged and eventually plead guilty to one of them. Your driving record now reflects your cavalier attitude towards your responsibilities as a driver.

You can drive, you will just have to pay more for the privilege. As a consequence MAYBE you will be more careful.

You are not being persecuted. You are ...

Has already been answered but the fundamental categories are Peace Officers (Criminal Code 495) and Citizens (Criminal Code 494) powers of arrest. the biggest difference is that a citizen must witness a criminal act (generally indictable) whereas a Peace Officer can arrest for RPG (reasonable and probable grounds). I'd encourage you to exercise ...

Fail to surrender licence, fail to surrender vehicle permit (HTA) and fail to have/surrender insurance card (CAIA) at a minimum.... Of course this assumes that the driver merely fails to produce his DL and doesn't refuse to identify himself when asked.

Obviously more charges would apply if additional problems were identified in the subsequent ...

Thanks for the feedback. Do insurance companies take consideration the demerit points or the offense? I'm planning on getting a car for work soon and I want to know what I should prepare when going to see a broker or speaking to an insurance company.

As a G2 driver you face additional consequences for some matters. Demerit points do not stay on your record forever - they disappear after two years. So at present you have no points.

It's obvious to me, that the real reason there was no replies to "infallible" is because folks are worried about giving up trade secrets or getting in trouble at work or some such thing. And that's fine. Helping by critiquing defenses, but not helping as much as they could. Again.....not that there's anything wrong with that. It's better than a ...

I don't think a criminal charge and a minor traffic matter are analagous.

I find the whole "I don't have to talk to you" attitude of some people as akin to teenage angst and thumbing their nose at authority. The danger in advising people to exercise their rights in this manner is that if they do not understand what they are REQUIRED to do they ...

Not sure precisely what you mean about different levels of suspicion.

Reasonable grounds ("A set of facts or circumstances which would satisfy an ordinary cautious and prudent person that there is reason to believe and which goes beyond mere suspicion") is the basis for most charges, but a "reasonable suspicion" articulated by an Officer could ...

Speak to a lawyer. Right away.

From my own perspective I would counsel MY daughter to report the accident immediately and to take responsibility for her mistake. Reporting the accident BEFORE someone knocks on the door undermines the key element of the criminal fail to remain charge (attempting to avoid civil or criminal responsibility).

Not to get "preachy" but I'm assuming that your daughter was at fault in this collision, hence the lack of concern with the damage that was done to your vehicle.

An officer may stop any vehicle at any time to check for sobriety, licencing, insurance or the mechanical condition of the vehicle. If you are driving erratically (by varrying your speed as you say) he'd be foolish not to stop you and make sure everything was ok.
