I agree, it sounds like both cars were travelling the same direction.
Doesn't get much better for the OP, under the fault determination rules a vehicle making a left into a driveway etc that is overtaken on the drivers side by another vehicle travelling the same direction, causing a collision, is a 50/50 split.

Re: Is it legal to carry a machete in your trunk?
As per my suggestion yes, it's legal to carry a machete it around in your trunk. It's one kind of safety kit as well as a little weird for you. It's good for self defense.
Explaining to a Police Officer that the machette is good for self defence is going to cause all kinds of complications. If you have a machette in your trunk for it's intended ...

Re: Officer gave me an extra copy of my ticket
Yep, the "certificate of offence" will still be processed (that's a different copy altogether), the extra copy you have may be a neat souvenir, but its absence won't nullify your ticket. You can still fight it (or request an early resolution meeting) of course.

Your entire argument is taken apart piece by piece in Meads vs Meads, you can read about it at your leisure.

In the meantime, wishing that something is so does not make it so.

Re: Unlicensed Driver during RIDE Check, Help!
Once again, according to Black's law dictionary a driver's license is only required if you engage in commerce.
Not engaging in commerce should mean not requiring a license.
