Re: What You Should Do if Pulled Over By a Police Officer

So that you don't say anything that will be used against you!!

I've never seen the glovebox open in a million traffic stops so that seems like a moot point.

We don't rule and nobody has been asked to be afraid. Respect however is a two way street.

And we've been given guns, tasers and OC spray to protect ourselves, from those who reach into ...

Re: What You Should Do if Pulled Over By a Police Officer

I tend to give breaks when people are honest and remorseful, other officers likely record all this and use it in court. There is no right answer here people.

I write piles of tickets and can spot a bullshitter a mile away. We get training to forensic interviewing, statement analysis and 22 year in uniform means my BS detector works better than ...

Re: Following too close due to deer in lane-court May 4 2010

Regarding "following" there are many caselaw materials that specifficaly address variables like speed, time and distance.
Can you name some?

Re: Speeding 115km/hr on highway 400

They can't amend without you present, that's why I say pay it or go, but be prepared for the larger fine and points.

Not sure about writing it on the ticket...the case law was succinct on that point. Did the officer tell you what the speed was at the time of the stop? That may be enough.

As for siriusone's comment, if standing up for yourself is ...

Re: 10 km/h?

10km/h can cause an accident?

How? By giving people too much reaction time? That just doesn't make any sense at all?

Speeding or jay walking isn't the issue, no need to die for 10 km/h...

Re: Top Ten EASY Ways to Dodge a Ticket!

Really?

That's a tired old argument that been tried in a many a court with the defendant leaving a few hundred dollars poorer...please save all this Common Law talk for another board, as much as you think it applies, our courts don't recognize and the intent of this board was to discuss traffic issues not obscure legal pretexts from a bygone era ...

Re: serious defence for serial ticketers.

You believed false reasons, I'm sure the officer believed valid reasons. It's like the car accidents I go to, two witnesses standing on opposite sides of the intersection, neither knows the drivers involved, one swears the red car blew the light, the other is positive it was the blue on. Don't even get me started on how I can show up to a collision ...

Re: Speeding 115km/hr on highway 400

Likely the Decatur - Genesis II Select Directional. It's the defacto standard, though other instruments are approved.

We're getting LASER / VIDEO soon, which means...100% conviction rates...well in theory...it does everything, measures distance, records video, capture plate, driver details, and the range is crazy...

As for fog...it reduces the ...

The truth is, as stated in other research, if you were really concerned with safety you'd drive a brightly coloured bike and equally visible clothing...but that ain't cool... :o

Re: Speeding 115km/hr on highway 400

See, if you do, that then you're playing games and the officer is there on overtime ($60 an hour)...

The minute you arrive in court they can request the amendment. Then you went down there for nothing but the increased penalty and fine...

You got a gift, don't play games.

I have never missed a single court appearance in 22 years, this is true ...

Re: serious defence for serial ticketers.

It would be unusual to make such a request...all of our traffic guys have audio recorders, not for evidence but for when the false complaints come in.

Having been in the business as long as I have, I've probably stopped 10,000 cars or more...I'll tell you I wish every one of them had been video recorded...why? Because like 99.5% (that's my HONEST ...
