What about stopping you while you're walking down the sidewalk.
You did absolutely wrong, but he stops you and asks for ID.
can you politely refuse by asking the officer the following two questions?
- officer, am I being detained?
- If not, may I resume walking?
I don't believe you need to show i.d. when walking around in Canada.
I don't ...

Re: Random stops
They do as they please.
The last time I was stopped????
I was parked doing a crossword puzzle. I looked up and there was a cop with his lights flashing behind me.
I just ignored him and did as I was doing.
Eventually he came to the car and asked me for info.
To me that was funny.
A time before that my car broke down out near Tweed.

Re: Disobey stop sign - time error on ticket
The problem with incorrect (time/place/etc errors) is once you are arraigned they can be amended.
You have to get in your objection first.
In a case like this "maybe" and only "maybe" if you had proof that "the officer was not on duty at the time"
and proof that "you were somewhere else at the time" you might be able to object and show the

Re: $450 disabled loading zone ticket
The city of Toronto released some guidelines for cancelling parking tickets. I think they might apply to your case (delivery truck driver on delivery). I don't have the link, but if you google it you might get an answer there. I'm not 100% sure, but give it a shot...

Re: Emergency vehicles
This is exactly why when driving, you were taught to stay to the right of the road. That way, when there's an emergency or an emergency vehicle passing, you're not obstructed by or obstructing others.
That is why I asked the question: They passed by me on the right shoulder at a very high rate of speed.

Did you recover the $10.00? and/or /The cd's?
It is most likely covered under comprehensive.
Deductible might be waived since a criminal offense caused it.
Unless you admitted to using the car /no care of vehicle charges stick.
You won't be convicted to anything you did not admit to.

Re: 3 part whammy
Short and simple, going the usual 115-120 in the first lane 2:30am and an unmarked SUV tailgating heavily with the lights blinding me from every mirror....
so i sped up to get around traffic in the 2nd lane to let him pass cause i obviously thought nothing of it, i hit not even 135, pass and as soon as i do
i get pulled over...talk about a trap ...

Maybe go back to the stop sign where you stopped. Get out and see if you can see the spot where the trap was.
You will need disclosure in any case, if you want to argue a case like this.

Welcome to the forum
You mention sec. 53.1.
It is not really much help for us to understand what happened to you.
Possibly if you described the incident we could offer ideas.
Maybe describe what happened etc.

Re: Insurance Question
An Insurance company uses your history to base your charge.
If you start buying at 19 or 23 it is the same start.:ie like new!
If you don't want to pay through the nose "later" get apartment "insurance".
Or added to a good driver,s car.
In a nutshell you only get to be a nine star driver with them if you have paid for 9 or more years.

Re: Emergency vehicles
I just said what happened in my first post.
As to why your car won,t top 150 kph it is in the chip on your car cpu.(some OPP do have cars with HP chip).
My question was ""what is my best response?""
If it was a 10:33 then why would they be staging at that spot?
I appreciate your response Hwybear
Cheers

Re: Help - first time offence - called to court
Simon is correct.
My thoughts:
Your insurance record starts from when you start paying for it, not later.(you will get a bit of a break for the years licensed but "minor").
What you need to do is:
Find a friend who is willing to let you be added to their policy as an occasional driver.
Get them to add you to the policy and pay the difference ...
