Re: 401 - Chatham

Well bear just so you know i would never really "FLY BY"in that area you patrol.

A good speed there is about 114.4 km/h You know just so the radar wont round it up 8)

You know though sometimes if i see an officer parked on the side of the road or happen to noticing him doing some sort of speed enforcement.

I go in the right lane and do exactly ...

Re: Radar / Lidar Units types

Can you add into this thread the spectre R.D.D.

I wonder how much they cost.

Am i wrong in thinking that all officers would have a radar unit, hand held radar, Laser, and a spectre RDD with them in every car.

Although i have heard the laser speed guns cost quite a bit.

I wonder if they have the funding for all this?

I assume spectres must be ...

Re: Following too close alternate charge?

Hey R.I i heard if you want to attract some bears you should put a big thing of Honey on the hood of your car and or a massive be hive on your roof as you go through "bear country."

Either that or bring out the Fuzz Buster 2000 west of London

I can see it now, bear is under a overpass somewhere between London and Essex, he pulls out ...

Re: Radar / Lidar Units types

bear remember in the other thread with the hand held K band VP directional, you told me that what i had suggested would not hold up in court because the gun has a mode to select direction (device can tell or only read cars going away, or coming towards it, etc)

Would the Genesis VP not have this option and therefore this defense would work? (The ...

Re: Following too close alternate charge?

Oh ya that 07 civic with the pilot from Michigan.

Isn't he also the one that carries all the doughnuts in his car from Essex to London on the 401???

I bet bear is going to go on a blitz for stopping civic's on the 401 in an attempt to find R.I and impound his car and (accidentally put him in the trunk) of his car.

Isn't the Markman old or not being phased out?

Although a few months back i saw the OPP in peel using them on the 400's.

Re: What's the proper procedure to pass a car on a 2 lane road?

Never pass a crown vic with black wheels.

From experiences and others it is never usually a good idea to pass a police officer and need to exceed the speed limit to do it.

Always check a car, if it has extra antennas, black steel wheels, or anything else that might be a give away such as extra electronic devices in the car a bad idea to pass it.

Not really you would just need a basic calculator from a dollar store.

Although knowing most cops there would be alot of fatal errors

Re: Speeding 139 - June10 Court Date

I've seen that a few times to.

Usually parallel to the road (3 lane express way GTA region)

One time i saw it on the 401 around Mavis rd.

Honestly i don't know what that cop was doing but he was in a really dangerous position.

I happened to be getting off there and slammed on my breaks and freaked out as i was driving this vehicle appeared out ...

Re: Speeding 139 - June10 Court Date

Sorry yes i know that, but LIDAR can only be used when an officer is stationary.

I can't imagine trying to drive at 130 chasing someone down trying to look through cross hairs to aim that thing from far back.

Bear question for you, usually in the GTA region when you see an officer parked on the side of a highway(shoulder) or under an ...

Re: Volunteer/'civilian' positions within OPP?

I wonder if you could. Don't most cop cars have an extra battery in the trunk or somewhere on board. They have alot of extra electronic devices they need to use while parked, would be wasteful to run the engine all the time.

Re: Law on Speeding and Radar Textbook

Ill add to that Bookm, i have talked to a few HSD officer's when they were on break. Most were decent, nice, open minded, and saw things from both ways.

As far as speed limits i like to see what they think. Ill say this though on average alot of them think we could use a higher limit then 100.

Two of them basically told me the same thing.

They ...
