Viper the analog will still work if a car is near that has a repeater (repeater is analog)
Are peel, TPS, Halton using digital now aswell?
Squishy i understand.
But this is 2009, if they didnt want anyone to hear they would encrypt it.
And that would absolutely be illegal to listen in on encrypted channels or breaking your way onto them.

If they had anything that looked like this they have the right away.
Sometimes its better to just let them have it.
I would not advise cutting off OPP officers, or motorcycle gangs on highways or any road way.

Digital Scanners
I was just wondering would it be illegal to use a device like this while operating a motor vehicle?
Uniden sells many digital Scanners in which you can listen to OPP or any other police force, ems, etc (channels are on the net to listen to)

Re: Aerial Surveillance
Interesting i have heard them use the plane there.
To bad they spent all that money on a plane.
They could have used that to add extra lanes around the GTA with all the added volume in recent years and improve our roads, fix pot holes, etc.

Re: Electronic Device Legislation
So whats dangerous about checking a text message quick waiting at one of those long lengthy stop lights in a busy suburb intersection while it takes a long boring 4 mins to get moving again?

Re: Cop suspended with Pay, HTA 172
Just a question.
An officer gets accused of something like this (pretty bad)
If he is found guilty i assume he will be removed from the force?
I can understand the paid suspension (because he still has his right to a fair trial and is guilty until proven innocent) Something Julian Fantino doesn't understand!
But if he was found guilty would he ...

Radar / Lidar - Accuracy In Rain&Snow
Curious could someone post manuals up for this?
Are these devices tested to read speeds accurately in rain or snow?
If one received a speeding ticket in rain or snow what kind of chance would they receive on fighting it?
I am sure these units are all properly tested, calibrated to be accurate with in X km/hr but does this apply for wet weather ...

Re: self-testing devices
I may be wrong, but to what I have heard is that tuning forks in themselves are made by using radar.....they keep shaving the metal to the tune of speed "X" on radar.
Even if the above is not the case, the tuning fork potentially could get dings, knicks or even bent over time, thus giving a wrong "tune" to the radar, unit is sent for repair but ...

Re: self-testing devices
Interesting thread.
Ticket Combat if you are in the GTA area Beltronics used to be in Mississauga. They had a research lab i think.
Maybee you should call them and stop by they might be able to help you out on that.
Absolutely radar and lidar work on different principles.
Just for curious how often is that "specific vehicle/ sure it was this ...

Re: City cop stopped me on Federal Highway
R.I answered this very well.
In Ontario local police forces like Halton Regional, Peel, TPS, KW Police, yes they can arrest you on a 400 series highway.
But this is not they're job to enforce it.
Usually these police just use the roads to get somewhere and they do not "patrol them."
But if you do something really stupid or dangerous and you ...

Re: Aerial Surveillance
Just curious where abouts did this happen?
Usually that plane is on the 400 surprised they were going for the 129.
Usually they bring that out on the long weekends to go after the really fast and aggressive drivers.

Re: Electronic Device Legislation
I really wonder how this is going to be enforced.
Maybe in those small rural towns with low population where the police aren't.
This will be like the usual ill just do 20 over on the highway thing.
I really doubt this will change anything. Especially on the highway so many drivers in heavy traffic......
Besides what does this law even do???

Suspended with pay  ?
I guess that goes along the line, of running a poorly mis managed company for years, taking excessive risk, and then getting billions in Tax payer money?
Anyways neat. That detachment in Port Credit is very strange, i was thinking corrupt but that may be to much.
They like the 403 alot thats for sure.

Bear has already stated that he'll give 20 over before he pulls in a customer...so don't we already have 120, at least in his area???
Depends on the Area. In Chatam and some places West of London they really enforce it.
The mentality now of alot of Ontario drivers seems to be that the best time to speed is with alot of traffic and tailgate as ...
