Quebec also has "Street Racing" legislation

Ottawa, Canada (AHN) - Beginning Tuesday, or April Fool's Day 2008, fines on Quebec drivers caught overspeeding will be doubled. It is not only the money penalty that will go up, but also demerit points.

The new law, Bill 42, is similar to Ontario's street racing rule. It stipulates fines for motorists who drive at over 40 km/h at under 60 km/h ...

Re: HTA172 and police conduct

Now this is a neat question i have for hwybear. What would the court do if you argue you were only going 30 over because everyone else was going 120 km/h?.

I do not know that. I have heard the usual going with "the flow" blah blah blah defence heard in court thou, with a conviction still at the clocked speed. JP basically indicated that just b/c ...

Re: Street racing?

Why does the OPP use tahoes for? I assume Crown Vic's would be used for most things.
Last I heard that the Crown Vic was going to be stopped being built by 2010. Alternative vehicles have to be found. Also considerations are in a
gov't tenders, where any automaker can bid to supply the vehicle, provided they have passed the pursuit rating from ...

Re: insufficient data on speeding ticket.

I heard where the cop can still make some changes to the ticket after the fact, but not too sure on how that works.
That's a huge no no and will get the ticket tossed quick..

Absolutely a fatal error PLUS is a loss of credibility of that officer in court.

Plain and simple, own up to the error that was made on the ticket, learn from it and ...

Think maybe around 10-15 for the whole month for the complete detachment. That is a low percentage for the 24,000 vehicles that travel through per day.

Re: Fail to obey signs when passing an OPP cruiser

Sounds to me like her was performing a "stunt" and should have his license yanked for a week!

Definition, "stunt"
8. Driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway or in a manner that may endanger any person by,

i. driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates ...

Re: Fail to obey signs when passing an OPP cruiser

What I'd like to know is if his use of the emergency lights and his driving behaviour gives me grounds to file a complaint with the OPP? I think what this guy did was disgusting and an abuse of his position.

Sound like the cop should be charged with 132 (unnecessary slow driving) and "interfering with flow of traffic". Must be a new cop on a ...

Re: Improper left turn

He did allow the other driver to finish the report of some sort at home (TCR? Victim statement? whatever it is you make people fill out when they are involved in a collision)), which is overstepping his duties. He did not provide any info about the driver to luckyrat6, yet another violation. He did hurry a driver who was in a collision, who does ...

Hey is that Detachment in chatam-kent just a Highway Safety Division or does chatam-kent have their own police department.

I am sure the London OPP is a highway safety detachment as a city the size of london must have their own police force for sure.....

West - East

Essex OPP patrol both the rural areas and Hwy 401, Hwy 3 and Hwy 77. (approx ...

Re: Improper left turn

- I never ever tell anyone how many points are attached to a ticket, such as this case I might have a brain fart and give the wrong point amount, I always tell the driver to contact the MTO.
- Drivers can not take the collision report home
- supervisor would have reviewed the report and signed it, so speaking with the supervisor will do what?
- we ...

Re: Obey Sign 182(2) Ticket

have a feeling im just gonna take this to my lawyer and get him to deal with this .

I rarely see a lawyer in traffic court, not saying they do not come. Things that I see are a lot of "outsourcing". Most times you pay the lawyer (ie $600) who then pays a paralegal ($300) to do the case for him/you......lawyer just made $300 by hiring the ...

Re: Street racing?

The crown vics i think are a 4.6l V8. They are not as fast as the charges but i beleive they are much safer. I think they have the best rating for crashes slaming into the back and have an added roll cage and other extra safety features.
no added roll cage. The crown vic is the only vehicle that has been tested to a rear impact of 75mph, such as ...
