No such thing as "jurisdiction". A police officer can enforce the laws anywhere in the Province of Ontario.

Anytime there is a collision we automatically subpoena the witness. Not a matter of disclosure. However, a you mentioned they might not show

Re: busted brake line get me out of this?

Rather than "unsafe vehicle" offence ($500 plus, no points) a possibility of an "Improper Brake" offence ($110, no points) could be brought forward by the prosecutor.

Guess this is why I check my ebrake once a week and every shift at work!

Re: Lifted/Moded Trucks

Would be very cautious as to use of a GPS for this. We have had this discussion on the forum.

Weights: Ensure your empty weight is accurate on the permit, then make sure your gross weight is accurate to what you might be loading in (including persons). I have seen the re-adjusted empty weight say of 2900kgs, gross of 3000kgs not touched....so ...

Re: Lifted/Moded Trucks

I have searched before about height and did not find anything, ironically trailers (transports) must have a rear crash bar......so why nothing that I have found is for a pickup is beyond me.....still will take another drivers head off if they go underneat.

there are offences for the mudguards, the speedometer quite possibly is way out and the ...

does not matter why a vehicle is pulled over and any subsequent offence does not have to be related to the reason for the stop.

Re: Pursuit rating of non-domestic vehicles

Are any non-domestic vehicles "pursuit-rated" in North America? Also have the Michigan State Police (this is relevant because apparently they have the most accepted selection/testing process) tested any of them to see if they meet their criteria? Just curious...

Re: Aftermarket mufflers.....

Some motorcyclists insist that their loud pipes are a safety necessity, so that people will "hear them coming," and react accordingly. Yeah... sure... Doesn't work too well for emergency vehicles with the siren blaring so I don't know why they think a loud muffler will make any difference.

Loud mufflers on MC = bad riders as they think ...

Re: Aftermarket mufflers.....

Yup, mee too. Apparently some people think that "louder is safer"...

oh yeah....that excuse......if that is the alledged reason then all these people should put their exhausts facing forward so it transmits ahead to let traffic and pedestrians ahead know they are coming. Not behind so all they are doing is annoying others after they have went by.

Re: Aftermarket mufflers.....

The muffler itself is legal to buy, but most owners do not install all the parts that come with the muffler. The parts that are typically not installed is the "baffle" or "silencer" that is to be put at the very tip of the exhaust. Without a baffle/silencer installed the muffler is a "straight-thru" muffler which is illegal.

Here is a picture of a ...

Re: If Charged with Careless while in Accident, how to fight it?

It's all good until the electronic components in vehicle law comes into place

But wouldn't a blind-recording camera be a "non-distraction" to a driver? I thought they would ban certain types of equipment, like cellphones and portable dvd players, but not radio! Else why not ban blackboxes in newer cars?

until it is here no worries ...

Re: Use of plate not authorized for the car HELP!

If I recall correctly you have 6 days to transfer the plates to the new car so the charge shouldn't have been laid. You'll need to bring proof of sale and make sure the dates are indicated.
Even if guilty, its only $300 and no points.

A transfer of plates is 6 days, but has several conditions:
- must own the number plates
- must NO longer own ...

Re: incorrect / mis-matched license plates

For any laws they can be found on google by typing in: ontario elaws, then do a search for Highway Traffic Act, it is "Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8 " then check out section 7 in regards to validation on licence plates, section 12 in regards to plates being authorized on vehicles.
