Exactly!!Squishy wrote:As I understand it, Ontario cops don't have any real jurisdiction. A TPS officer can go issue tickets in Ottawa if he wanted to. The ticket would be valid, but he might have to explain to the bosses how he ended up in Ottawa.

Re: Volunteer/'civilian' positions within OPP?
I don't belong to a fitness club, but I do have a treadmill and free weights at home. I'm also going to install a pull-up bar in the basement in front of the big screen TV. My physical strength isn't nearly as bad as my cardio - right now I can curl 40 lbs and bench press 200 lbs, and the last time I had access to a Smith machine I managed to ...

If you happen to go to GoodLife Fitness...start taking thte Group Exercise Classes. It may seem not so male to go...but I have now completed 3 years of Body Attack, Body Step and now RPM came to the club last month. My cardio and strength is second to none.

Re: self-testing devices
With what you just wrote, I wouldn't want to answer the questions........ However, HwyBear has mentioned in the past that there is a fourth test. It is completed in the office by a guy on a computer. This test simulates the emitted radiation, light with LIDAR. .

Re: Volunteer/'civilian' positions within OPP?
Auxiliary applicants get almost the whole complete testing as regular during the "hiring phase". The interview is done locallly and not by a "recruiter". There also has to be a "local" auxiliary position open to apply. It is well worth the investment/time if you are successful. Auxiliaries then go for one week training in Orillia prior to being ...

Re: Volunteer/'civilian' positions within OPP?
I have never heard of any volunteer type of positions you mention.
You might want to consider calling your local "crime stoppers" as they often look for volunteers.
You can also apply to your local "Victim Services" and help people through various traumatic times.
Another avenue is applying to the OPP Auxiliary program. Once an auxiliary you ...

Re: Lidar - Multiple User Testing
it would be impracticable to do the test right there and then. Well guess it could be done, but we have 2 known fixed distances at our office that we use for testing, we measured out and put in the posts to an exact measurement. Would find that part nearly impossible at roadside, unless you measure out to a post with a measuring tape.

Lidar - Multiple User Testing
No going to side track the other thread.
Were there multiple officers using the same lidar device or just one? This makes a difference (care and control of the device). If several officers were using the same device, did they each test it before and after each person was stopped? Did anything happen to the device during the time it was used by ...

Re: service plate trouble
You might have misinterpreted the section?
When stopped you would have to produce:
- driver's licence
- valid proof of insurance
- permit "plate portion" (this will correspond with the service plate)
- permit "vehicle portion" (this will correspond with the vehicle)
The permit "vehicle portion" registrant and the permit "plate portion" registrant ...

Re: bumping the back of a cop's wife's car = careless driving
$325 is the correct total payable for careless driving. Your ticket looks like it has a "fatal flaw." There may be an exception due to the fact that I believe your ticket was a "part III summons," but I think that the dollar amount, even though it was only a $5 error, should be sufficient to get the charge quashed "on a technicality." While it is ...
