Peeling plates

I took my plates off my car and into the MTO today. the white layer and blue lettering were lifting off the metal.

The clerk called somewhere and the plates were deemed defective. I received a new set of plates at no cost to me.

FYI should your plates be doing the same thing.

Re: Requirement for police to identify themselves when asked

Some uniforms, actually most do not have a badge attached to it. All usually have a shoulder crest and majority now have vests / shirts with police written on the front and back.

Some do not carry a badge or business card outside their cruiser while in uniform (potential to drop it anywhere) but do keep those items inside their cruiser. I don't ...

Re: Roadside Trailer Seizure without impound order? + ticket

Just using plates not authorized I would tow the trailer.

lucky, b/c an emergency brake not working also fails to meet vehicle standards and the vehicle plates could have been pulled and charged with unsafe vehicle.

Re: School bus stopping question

HTA clearly states that the bus must be stopped (as soon as the wheels stop rotating, the stop signs flip-out and they begin flashing). You are not required to stop for a school bus that is driving along with the top red lights flashing.
The bus has to be stopped and overhead lights activated..... There is no requirement to have the stop arm out ...

Is Don Mills Rd the same as Hwy 404? In the regulations it states where the HOV is valid on hwy 404.. So if one and same... Might want to check on that

Re: unpaid fine that WAS paid, expired license, now living i

And don't forget call MTO, typically once licence has been suspended a $150 reinstatement fee has to be paid to bring the licence status back into good standing in Ontario....so even if all fees paid could still be suspended....I don't know...throwing it out there so there is no surprise should you drive here on an AB licence and get stopped as the ...

Re: 80 in a 60, disclosure not very helpful

I get it now....once it's been calibrated to 0 the unit is ready to measure at any given distance, it doesn't have to be at that exact specification to determine accurate speeds. I thought that since you have to test at that distance, it can only be accurate at that distance or within a small margin of differential. Now I understand it though ...

Re: If a cop claims that your speed was 84 km/hr in 60 zone

The display of a vehicle's speed on a police radar or lidar does not have to be "locked" on the screen, the officer just has to have seen the reading, therefore it would be a blanked display when viewed anyway.

From my personal experience I do not show a reading if asked. For a several reasons:
- a person outside their car with other traffic is ...

Re: 2 Officer Speed Trap - Heading to Court

2 officers with lidar is straight forward.....first officer observes vehicle above speed limit, obtains speed with lidar, over radio provides speed, time description to 2nd officer, observes 2nd officer stopping the proper vehicle (whether with cruiser or pointing vehicle to shoulder), 1st officer makes notes, then resumes observing for next ...

Re: Green strobe light in personal vehical

Yes still in compliance. An actual strobe light in most emergency vehicle lighting went out many many years ago. way too expensive and drain too much power and needed a booster system to function. what you have is an LED light flashing at variable rates.
