As a side question to others reading this thread, is it City of Toronto POLICE that issue by-law offences like this, or does Toronto have seperate by-law officers?
Toronto has a separate Parking Enforcement Unit that issues parking tickets. This unit is managed by the Toronto police, but the parking enforcement officers themselves are not police ...

Re: Fighting handicapped parking ticket of $450
I agree with the the others, file for court and request disclosure. At the very least you won't have to pay it until the trial process is complete, which will likely be many months down the road. If nothing else this will give you some time to save up the money in case you lose and wined up having to pay. Also you should be able to ask the justice ...

Re: Paying ticket on due date, will my license be suspended?
Did you pay online or by mail? If you paid online then you should be fine. Nobody will get around to doing the paper work to have your licence suspended until Tuesday at the earliest in which case they should see that your payment was made in time. If you sent it by mail that could be a problem because some times mail gets delayed around long ...

Re: Ticket Invalid?
I would call the court house and ask them what is happening. It is possible that the officer never turned in their copy of the ticket, in which case you are off the hook. It is also possible that the court simply forgot to upload the ticket to the payment website, in which case the ticket may still be outstanding. If it is the latter you need to ...

Yes, those numbers to the ticket number for the ticket that was issued to the other driver. P.O.T No. is short for provincial offences ticket number.

Re: Speeding Ticket (possible fatal error)
I would go ahead and file the appeal. In order for the ticket to be valid the set fine has to match the offence shown on the face of the ticket. I think you have a strong argument that the set fine does not match the offence on that ticket since no speed is listed. In this case I can't say for sure how the appeals court will rule, but if it were me ...

Re: Didn't receive letter after Early Resolution regarding c
It wouldn't hurt contact the court and see if you have been given a court date yet, sometimes things do get lost in the mail. If you have the number for the court house you can even do this over the phone.

Re: HTA or Bylaw? Carrying points?
Theoretically a prohibited turn bylaw infraction should add 2 points to your driving record. However, in reality I've noticed that the system for reporting bylaw infractions to MTO doesn't seem to work very well and they are often not reported. For example I got a no turn bylaw infraction ticket in Toronto in 2009. 8 months later I ordered a copy ...

Re: Speeding in Algonquin
It will come down to what the officer says in his notes and how clear his identification of your girl friend's vehicle is as well as when he actuality measured her speed. For example he could claim that he got a radar lock on her vehicle after he made the U turn when he puled in behind her. If that is the case then whether he lost sight of her ...

Re: Advice regarding unspecified offence (90 in a 70)
If the Justice of the Peace who examines past due tickets does his job correctly he should quash the ticket, in which case you won't hear anything from the court. If he misses the error and enters a default judgment against you then you SHOULD get a notice of conviction, however some times things get lost in the mail. Either way you should follow ...

Re: Driving with expired plates
I don't think it matters whether you renew the sticker or pay the fine first, just as long as you pay the fine with in 15 days of getting the ticket so they don't suspend your licence. The fine can't be paid at Service Ontario where you renew your sticker, you have to send that payment to the court in the jurisdiction where the ticket was issued ...

Re: Parking ticket on a Green P parking lot
There is a by-law against parking outside the marked spaces in Green P lots, although I can't find the exact number for it at the moment. From what I've seen I think that rule is usually enforced on a complaint basis, which is why you have seen other people get away with parking there before. Unfortunately, in your case you either got caught by a ...

Re: Officer forgot to sign the ticket.
If the tickets are hand written, as opposed to computer generated, then yes the officer has to sign both tickets. An unsigned ticket is a considered a fatal error, and thus the best thing for you to do is ignore the unsigned ticket. Here is a link that talks about what to do if your ticket has a fatal error, the article talks about what to do when ...

Re: Malware ads on this website
I've had this problem as well. If you accidentally click on the add that pops up at the bottom of the screen, it sends you to a sketchy looking website that won't let you go back. On my desktop computer it is easy enough to avoid clicking on it, but on my phone's touch screen I've accidentally clicked it a couple of times and have had close my ...

Re: received summons but no ticket?
Since you have the summonses you can go ahead and send in a disclosure request now. Disclosure will include the officer's notes regarding the two charges, plus footage from the police car's dash cam if that particular police car was equipped with one. Reviewing that information will give you an idea of what led to these charges, then you can start ...
