I was referring to the UK and there are NO warning signs it will just say 70 then 50
and they expect you to be doing that speed as soon as you car hits that sign
How is it a cash grab having signs that indicate what speed you should be going ? The warning signs are a courtesy to allow you to slow your car down to the new sped limit ahead which is ...

Re: 70 km/h in 50 km/h - Cop was wrong...
hi;
sorry to hijack; but a related question
on a road the posted limit is 70.. you get a sign then saying 50 ahead, then the 50 starts sign.
SO... between doing the 70 and the 50 at "what"point should you be doing 50, because there will be the 50 ahead and the 50 STARTS?
should the car be slowed down from 70-50 at the 50 ahead sign OR gradual ...

Re: Help for my first speeding ticket
similar line I was given about speed (when I had my first one)
1st the guy tailgated me within inches to get me to speed up <although some would debate that>
then saying I was doing nearly 149, This was in a 2002 POS neon. and on a highway with some traffic
nuts, although I didnt check my speedo and I was shifting (120ish), but nowhere near not 149 ...

Re: Help for my first speeding ticket
I "HATE" when they say this; of course it will, there's so many posts's both here and on other forums where people who've been copped, say this same line ; where cops are saying; they'll lower the points or reduce the speed it won't effect your insurance.
Why do they say that when they blatantly know it's not true
ANY conviction is going to have ...

Re: Parking lot accident - advice needed
if the boot is not closing properly, exhaust gasses could be drawn into the car; causing several things
1> drowsyness
2> poisening
So I'd say it's a potential problem
Thanks. I probably won't report it. If it was only cosmetic, I definitely wouldn't. I'm just torn becausei don't think it's safe to drive with the hood boot closing properly. I may ...

Insurance Company Reporting: Your insurance policy states that you are required to report all accidents,
regardless of the amount of damage. Many drivers believe that if they pay the damages themselves they dont need to involve the insurer;
this is not true. Your insurer needs to be kept in the loop of any collision.

I believe your insurance requires you to report ALL incidents, regardless of cost or fault.
It forms the basis of them appraising you,
The correct advise IS that you should report it.
FAILING to report an incident to your insurance, AND should the other party decide to could cause you problems.

he "has" 2 speeding convictions.
did you not read that bit ?
He also didn't mention that in his opening, although he did say
"I do terribly regret everything and have no intentions of speeding. "
So 3 in total; that makes him a serial speeder. Am I missing something?
Bobajob is incorrect... From what I concluded through the vast ...

Re: Looking for advice on stunt driving first court appearan
so not just doing a "tad" over the stunt, been done for speeding twice,
serial speeder with a record, IMHO he wont get a reduction
I do remember seeing 2 things from here
1> stunt etc; generally you can't get a reduction, so it's a trial only option
2> Serial speeders also don't get reductions
again that's what I thought I've seen here, of ...

Re: Looking for advice on stunt driving first court appearan
whilst I understand, the whole jist
it's not a tad over 50, (and I get what your saying)
it's 51 "over" the speed limit
so he wasn't just over the limit, he had the pedal to the metal and was "booting" it
There are many factors the prosecutors consider before agreeing to lower the rate of speed down...an increase in the insurance rates is not ...

Re: HANDHELD DEVICE
if you "play" around with a mobile phone; your pretty much toast; unless
It is properly secured in a handheld device unit; say on the dash. I "believe" you can press the answer button and that's it
Most phones and modern cars have bluetooth, auto answer, etc; there is really no excuse for not having this.
The officer saw you playing around with ...

I thought LEO's do?
UK cops certainly do, any traffic cop can tell if a car is insured and I think by who, road taxed (same as sticker), MOT'd (vehicle safety) when they stop them.
They have access to a database (actually sometimes it is wrong :) ) but they do.
They can and usually do have a hotline to ring for each insurance provider to confirm ...

again; it's nothing to do with the 3rd party,
no issue with asking,
the driver is going to be dealing with the insurance with the resulting of the accident; may be asked to be a witness (?) doubt it
and he gets on with his/her life.
