Re: Tricky Intersections

If I turned left and there was a red light I would stop. No question. Err on the side of safety each and every time.

Re: Is the speed limit an integral part of the offence?

I would think that, if you could show the prosecutor that the limit was 80, they would withdraw the charge.

Your post isn't very clear. Did the cruiser pull in front of you ? Then how did it appear behind you ?

Well if you're going to be rude and accuse me of bias when I've taken the time to respond to you then you're on your own.

You have admitted you were speeding in the 50 km/hr zone - everything else is irrelevant.

Re: Questionable 80/50 & more....

That is irrelevant. You need the GPS data to show you were doing 50 in a 50 - which you have admitted you weren't.

Re: Questionable 80/50 & more....

I only see 80 and 50 zones on that road in that area, so I'm not sure where the 70 is coming into the picture.

Re: Questionable 80/50 & more....

Patrolling eastbound on Glendon Drive in village of Komoka, slowing for 50 and noticed blue Mazda 3 ahead not slowing and in 50 km/hr zone. Caught up and placed for approx 3 seconds @ 90 km/hr (speedometer on motorcycle) @ approx 2 car lengths - traveling @ 80 ??? and motor vehicle pulling away. Speedometer on motorcycle about 4 km/hr fast shows 90 ...

Re: Questionable 80/50 & more....

If you scan and post the disclosure (with personal details redacted) then people can help with that.

It is your responsibility to slow down when the speed limit changes. Having someone behind you does not absolve you of that responsibility.

Re: Will I get ticket for passing Amber light?

Yes, there is no doubt that the op should have stopped but the only way he is getting a ticket was if he was pulled over on the spot.

That is one heck of a long amber light.

Re: Ticket for driving a friend's car with expired sticker

Insurance could care less that a validation was expired, doesn't make you a higher risk.

And you have a zero percent chance of winning in court, you could have checked it prior to driving it.

Having said that, your previous driving record might work in your favour and prosecutor might have some mercy, but not sure what you'd get it lowered to ...

Re: Ticket for driving a friend's car with expired sticker

So I was wondering, given the fact that it wasn't my car...do I have a chance in court?

You are responsible as the driver of a vehicle to make sure it is suitable for the road, whether it's yours or not.

Whether or not you are offered a plea deal right before trial is one thing, but you are not going to be successful in a trial with your ...
