Was just reading an article on Wheels.ca about faded licence plates that reminded me of some earlier posts on these forums.
Turns out the Ministry admits they issued a bad batch of licence plates a few years back with an ink that does fade/wear off quite easily. The nice thing is that they will replace plates with this defect free of charge within ...

Re: Out-of-province: can I ask someone else to represent me?
1) I'm not actually sure on what documentation is required or when. I'm just assuming he'd need some type of letter showing he's allowed to represent you. Hopefully someone else can advise you what you actually need. Also, unlicenced representation is governed by the Law Society of Upper Canada. Unless your dad is a lawyer or paralegal, he's not ...

The officer has seven days to file the ticket with the Courts, so if you were charged last Thursday he still has until tomorrow. Even once he's filed it, there could still be a delay before it appears on their system. Maybe if you're lucky he forgot to file it, but it's still too early to be sure.

Re: E-Bikes and the HTA
So out of curiosity, what is your defense strategy? If you're going to try and argue it's unsafe to have pedals attached, that would probably be a very uphill battle. I've never heard of Courts going against Ministry equipment regulations. The other issue in my mind is that even if you show the pedals are unsafe, they'll ask you why you simply didn ...

Yes, you can have someone represent you. Just make sure they have some type of documentation showing they're allowed to do so.

Re: Failure to surrendor insurance and valid permit
You would want to plead not guilty and speak with the Crown prior to trial to try and work out a deal. There is no guarantee they will simply withdraw the charges, more likely they will withdraw one charge and/or offer a reduced fine.

Re: Parking ticket for out of country plate
At this time, I'm not aware of any reciprocal agreement for parking tickets involving out of Province plates. The City obtains owner information from the MTO, which can only provide it for Ontario plates. In short, it shouldn't effect your ability to register the vehicle, nor should there be any record linked to it regarding parking fines.

Re: lift kits
There are several Highway Traffic Act and Transport Canada regulations that cover various equipment height/dimension limits, but they're scattered all over the place. I'd do a search on this forum as I think some people have posted specific limits before. I think the main issue is that your lighting has to be within a certain height of the roadway ...

Re: annual inspection certificate
Wow, the wording is clear as mud. The way I read it, if your sticker expired in January, the next month is February. If you count February as the first month, 12 months takes you to January of the following year, so no grace period.
I tried to check online for clearer information and of course the MTO pages were of no help. Googling away however ...

Re: $450 disabled loading zone ticket
Dont worry, parking tickets have no effect on insurance. You can certainly fight the ticket, but I dont think the reason why you were parked there is sufficient justification. It would probably be more a matter of having the Crown show that you were parked in a disabled loading zone and having the bylaw officer attend Court to testify. The other ...

Re: I have a few questions.
1) I believe it's 15 days prior to trial.
2) Can you explain how it's even legal to use your plates on a vehicle that's registered to someone else? Cause if it isn't legal, you're not getting insurance.
3) Is it a ticket or a summons? If it's a ticket for not having your insurance card, it's pretty minor. If it's a summons for having no insurance ...

Re: Disobey Sign - HTA 182 (2) - Mississauga
Not sure what the officer meant, because he cant "write off" a ticket once it has been issued. Youre correct in that with option 2, you can only get a reduced fine. The conviction and demerit points would still go on your record. Many insurance companies will overlook your first conviction, but it varies from one company to the next. Not sure, but ...
