That is the correct wording for a charge under HTA 62(1). You can look it up under O.Reg 950. "Drive without proper headlights — motor vehicle"
Hwybear, how would you charge for TC violations? I see in some other provinces that their MVA/HTA has a section stating that all vehicles are to meet TC requirements or at least CMVSS. Nothing like that ...

Re: Can this be appealed?
I think this law is more to allow arrow indications to be used for controlling the direction of traffic, such as at a highway off-ramp that might have left and right arrow indications but no forward arrow indication, or an intersection with no turns that might show only the forward arrow indication. Instead of having signs to prohibit each illegal ...

Re: Can this be appealed?
The whole of the HTA is available to anyone with internet access from home or a library. There's nothing that says you can only read the Driver's Handbook before a road test.
If the left-turn arrow is not on, you can turn right on a red after coming to a stop and determining the turn can be made in safety. When a green arrow indication is shown ...

Re: Failing to drive in a marked lane - Case law
That exception only applies where the vehicle being passed is intending to turn left. On a divided highway, the only time that would really apply is when a vehicle is merging left with the tail end sticking out. Then you could take the shoulder to pass that vehicle and proceed farther up the merge lane.

Re: Toronto to allow e-mail resolution of some parking ticke
As long as the clerks are actually literate - in computers and language. I've worked with some people who would address only the first issue in an email and ignore the rest. I could see this happening.
Torontonian: "I got a ticket yesterday. I did not have a parking slip on my dash. I did have a disabled parking permit that allows me to park there ...

It's Monday, don't listen to that song.
Speaking of AAAAARGH and being the joke thread...some of you know that's my plate. There's a dispatcher that puts "(for real)" next to it every time I log in.
Maybe the next dispatcher took over and thought it was a prank.

You still have passing off roadway, HTA 150 (2). The definition of "roadway" specifically excludes the shoulder.

As far as the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act goes, you're okay as long as you don't drive it. Obviously, if vandals or mother nature hit it, you're not covered. Not sure about the lease agreement requirements as I've never leased a vehicle before.

Re: Fail to Remain- But thought there was no damage?
Legal and moral obligation.
Report it to a collision reporting centre, or, if you don't have one, your local detachment/police station. With all those witnesses, someone probably has your plate. If the other driver already reported it, chances are you will be put in contact with each other to see if you can resolve it mutually. It's a much better ...

Re: Whose fault?????
I think it's more to prevent people from using it as a turn lane and holding the bus up. These are almost always for those bus stops that lead into an intersection. I've never seen anyone parked in one of those, but I had seen buses honking away at turning cars before the "BUS ONLY" lines were painted because the cars had to wait for traffic and ...

Re: Whose fault?????
I'm asking because, aside from personal curiosity, the OP mentioned that the extra space was for a bus stop. Some of those, especially in Mississauga and some other areas, are painted with a solid white line with the words "BUS ONLY". I'm guessing this is backed up in the city bylaws.
Even if this was the case, I don't think it makes a difference ...

Re: Whose fault?????
Can you use lanes designated for specific traffic (bus only, right turn only, bicycle only, etc) in order to pass? Section 150 doesn't really specify how you pass the vehicle in terms of marked lanes.Stanton wrote:As for the vehicle that passed the school bus on the right, that is legal since the bus was signalling to turn left.

Re: FAIL TO MOVE INTO ANOTHER LANE FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE
They should include towtruck operators in this law. It must be pretty scary hitching a vehicle while cars are zooming past you going 80 - 120 km/hour .
Our local MPP is working on just such a law to change the definition to include tow trucks stopped at the scene, although the local paper worded the article poorly and made it seem like we had to ...

Yes, I was including "own two feet" in my definition of travel and transportation. "Mobility" would be a better word for it.
