Re: Collision Investigation

Wow, you need a warrant for the black box? Seems a bit weird as manufacturers seem to be able to get access to it without a warrant (e.g., Nissan with the GT-R VDC/Launch Control fiasco).

The Toronto Parking Enforcement guys should get that tripod gizmo. Now they can measure 15 m from the intersection with authoritah! 8)

Re: Scanners

Any scanner capable of receiving non-broadcast digital signals requires a licence from Industry Canada. 'Broadcast' meaning that it was intended for the use of the general public, like non-subscription television signals.

Analog scanners are exempt from licensing requirements, but under the Radiocommunication Act, you cannot divulge or make use of ...

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave. - No right turn on Red Light???

Just a side note related but not to this particular situation.

If stopped at a red light, and then a green arrow appears to turn left....no motor vehicle can make a turn to the right while the red is showing.
Just and FYI I don't think I would interpret it that way. Did you experience a ruling recently??

I've never used it, do not have ...

Re: Ban the Cell Phones Law

I think a warrant can force the phone companies to give up that information, like Bear describes above. But for a traffic accident? I hear that accident reconstruction isn't even called out unless there is a fatality - this seems like roughly the same amount of manpower, although the hours would be spent on paperwork instead of at the scene with a ...

Re: More weird driving

Rates are low cause no one will steal an Escort and the tank is so small on the Escape you might get to Barrie and have to fill up again..... :D :D :D :D

Our Escape goes 550-600 km on a tank. :P

We don't buy collision or comprehensive, though. Otherwise, it would be around $60/mo for each of the cars, I think. I can fix or patch up minor damage ...

Hey, good drivers are welcome to move up here. :D

We pay $47/mo for the Escort, $53/mo for the Escape.

1) Lack of courtesy
2) Impatience

That covers about 95% of the things that make me prefer HSD over the other types of detachments. I'm going to get them ALLLLLL. :x :x :x :D

Re: More weird driving

Hey, Brampton is several times worse than Toronto; I'd say it's worse than Scarborough. There are good parts of Brampton, but WOW some of the areas...I could see this happening.

I had a Bramptonite argue with me on the pronunciation of 'McLaughlin Road' - "But it's 'Sarah Mick-Lock-Lin'!" Sheesh.

On the same subject, a bit over 20 years ago my ...

Re: Ban the Cell Phones Law

Part of your brain during a phone conversation dedicates itself to forming a mental quasi-image of the person you are talking to. Ever notice how you might be hand-gesturing while talking on the phone even though the person can't see you?

That's always been my hypothesis as well, but then why does the predominant 'reasoning' seem to be that a ...

Re: Ban the Cell Phones Law

Hmm. Oh wait, you're allowed to use the phone for emergency services.

I've had plenty of conversations at 160 km/h. There is nowhere near the level of distraction that a phone call presents, handsfree or not. I have read studies that show how it is distracting to us, as mentioned above, but I haven't really found anything that explains why . What ...

Maybe Bear needs to diversify from his Boston Cream.
