Re: Highway lane usage

Don't forget 148 (2).

You may drive in any lane you wish to use until you are overtaken by another vehicle. At that point you must move to the right at the first safe opportunity. Keep it simple by staying in the right hand lane unless you have to pass.

And before anyone tries to argue the meaning of "overtake," here it is from Merriam-Webster ...

Re: Dump Truck/Debris/Chipped Windshield ?'s

Call your insurance company - if you can confirm that this would go under DCPD coverage, then just file the claim. Settling outside of insurance is just a courtesy when you are 0% at-fault, and my courtesy would be used up if they kept sending me to voicemail.

If this would be covered under comprehensive, though, that's different - you'll want ...

Re: Dump Truck/Debris/Chipped Windshield ?'s

Going on the officer's option to charge with "fail to remain," would this be considered an accident where fault lies with the truck driver (unsecure load)? If so, no deductible on your end, and rates cannot be affected.

If insurance decides that this would be covered under comprehensive coverage like vandalism would be, then there will be a ...

Re: Hydroplane into ditch, careless charge

There was no excuse for that crash. However, a careless conviction may be too harsh (insurance increases) if a lesson has been learned. Good news for you is that careless is sometimes applied when no other charge seems to fit, and I hear the courts have high standards for a conviction.

Re: Triform using cheaper cows?

Alkalines will work well in a camera only if you use it without a flash, or your flash charges with a low current drain. An alkaline's capacity varies based on current drain, so a few repeated high-current flash charges will deplete the battery pretty quickly and eventually make it leak..

I remember those recalls. Sony makes one of the better Li ...

Re: Triform using cheaper cows?

I took a look at their battery charger packaging, and it looks exactly like the battery cell packaging. At first I thought it was just a larger "club pack" or something like that.

I think their downfall will be from people stuffing those inside their cameras. They will last about 10 pictures and then leak all over their nice digital camera.

For ...

I think airspeed = speed through the air, so ground speed = airspeed + (or -) wind speed. Not sure what "true" means.

Re: Triform using cheaper cows?

I noticed that Canadian Tire has started carrying Pure Energy rechargeables manufactured in Nova Scotia. Relabled as "Green Earth" or something like that and marketed as a green alternative to NiMHs. Good that a Canadian manufacturer is getting more market share, but wow BAD marketing move. I have a feeling that they will get a very bad reputation ...

Re: Failing to stop for School Bus

No time to check the wording, but this sounds like one of those owner-driver charges where you can be either charged as the vehicle owner (plates reported) or as the vehicle driver (caught in the act by an officer). Red light camera tickets are generally disregarded by insurance companies as you are charged as a vehicle owner, not a driver. The ...

Re: Government proposes random breathalyzer tests

The Bill of Rights is not a constitutional document - does that make a difference?

I don't think Bear was saying that an arbitrary vehicle search was perfectly legal - just that should an arbitrary search be conducted, he would have no problem with it as there is nothing illegal in his car.

I think a completely random breath test would be going ...

Re: Improper left turn

The officer can't remove demerits from the charge. If the charge carries demerit points, the MTO will automatically enter them upon conviction - it has nothing to do with the courts or a police service.

I've been locked out for two days and just got in now. I've gotten the 500 errors before, but they are showing up more frequently now.
