Re: 144 (18) - Turning left at an intersection
Thanks for the responses. Reflections, thanks for the tip. The pedestrian signal was definitely flashing "Don't walk" when the pedestrians were running across the road. I guess I can bring up 144 (27) - No pedestrian approaching pedestrian control signals and facing a solid or flashing "dont walk" indication shall enter the roadway. R.S.O. 1990, c ...

Re: 144 (18) - Turning left at an intersection
You may have an arguement if the pedestrians blocking the other car started crossing when the don't walk sign was flashing, thus causing the whole situation.

Re: 12hr vs 3 day Suspension
I agree to the safe side of things but with all the recent changes, I feel we are being safetied to death. Bookm's quip about having fun while driving might be true after all. And didn't you ask the question, "why are we not responsible for our own actions anymore?". Probably because responsibility has been/in the process of is being removed by the ...

Re: Free Online Breathalyzer Test!
4 screw drivers for me in an hour puts me at 62ml. Legal but I know how I would feel, and I wouldn't be driving.
Probably be hitting on anything that moved.

Re: Even the Police are not exempt
Judging by most of your replies 'Bear, you've heard most of these before
. I would still like to see lights of some sort on when an officer is travelling well over the speed limit i.e. 30KM/H+

Re: Left Turn when light turns, before letting oncoming traffic
You only need to be close between the speaker and the window. You want your order in as far ahead as possible so you don't slow down the line. This only counts for those ordering more then 1 bagel and 1 coffee at "Tim's" in the morning. Then again why not strech your legs and go inside for that......

Re: 12hr vs 3 day Suspension
So, that still does not answer the question of why do we need a 3-day suspension when we have not broken the law???? An "A" is 50-99 and the legal limit is 80?? Or is there more to this then is currently being told
???

Re: Even the Police are not exempt
I've been told that this is the SECOND officer to get nailed. I'm assuming they were "off-duty" right? Police aren't subject to the HTA while on duty, correct? Or is it just when they are on an actual call, not just on duty?
They are exempt from certain traffic laws while "On Duty". And speeding is one of them :x . I'm sure 'Bear will chime in ...

If the driver was going through all the gears as indicated, ...
Nah.. he just performed the standard "car guy" thing; accelerate hard(ish) through first, use up a bit of second, then let off. No high speed involved. Just getting that high you feel when pinned back in your seat for a second or too. If you're not into muscle cars, you'll never ...

Re: This is just getting CRAZY!!!
So the way I translate this: Hard acceleration + Police Presence = Time to Chat :D . The funny thing is, no law was broken.
Interpretation: Outdistance another vehicle perhaps? Or perhaps as I mentioned unable to get a radar reading....although still appears greater than 50km over the limit...good time to remind the driver of this legislation ...

Re: Errors and Omissions
Just be aware that the officer has 30 days to write a new ticket (I think). My own personal paranoia would have me pleading not-guilty then waiting for my court date to arrive in the mail. The court date will likely fall outside the 30 day time limit. At that time, I would request that the Crown withdraw the charge. If he doesn't, I'd proceed to ...

Re: Errors and Omissions
One of my law classes, I took 2, mentioned if the date is wrong, the ticket will be no good. April 26 was a saturday and the 29 was a tuesday. Should be simple enough to establish what day of the week the "offence" took place. Question the officer what day it was?? I was almost dinged, got off with a warning, under the same circumstances, radar ...

Are you sure you have the date right??
The wrong date is grounds for dismissal.
