Re: Insurance Issues...
Just my two cents... What happens with your insurance largely depends on your provider. Some of them will, as FiReSTaRT mentioned, raise your rates upon any conviction; others have forgiveness; etc. They can raise your rates if you have not-at-fault collisions, depending on the carrier. The reason being, with Ontario's Direct Compensation insurance ...

Yep. Also blinded by people using their high-beams on well-lit city streets at night.Squishy wrote:Does anyone else get blinded by fog lights on rural roads?

Thanks for the heads-up, bear. (Will be passing through your territory on April 9.) Is that your unit or is it the OPP Essex traffic unit that is stepping it up toward Windsor?

Re: SECTION 172? HELP
So you were charged with going 155 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, correct? The officer saved you an immediate licence suspension and vehicle impoundment by using the "old" method. Not saying you're guilty or anything, just that so many vehicles have been seized under 172 that it's good to hear that some officers are still using s. 128 for speeding ...

Re: SECTION 172? HELP
I'm confused. :? What speed were you allegedly doing and what was the speed limit at the time? If you were charged under s. 128 of the Highway Traffic Act, that's different than 172, and different penalties. If you were charged with stunt driving (section 172), you were looking at the immediate loss of your car for 7 days, up to $10 000 in fines ...

Re: Interesting article about court appearances. Opinions?
Would rather see Chrysler & GM (Ford if it needs it) get restructuring money than any of the financial companies in the US, like AIG, Citibank, Bank of America and the others that performed stunts with other people's money. Especially with the bonuses that were paid!!! At least with a car company, they make a tangible product that someone can use ...

Re: Farmer Stopped on Road
Might be worthwhile talking to a paralegal about this one. From what you said, the corn bin was on the road and was not illuminated in any way, correct? Since a collision was involved and the officer did not witness it, unless the officer is a collision reconstruction expert, they'll probably need the farmer to go to court in order to get a ...

I'd agree on principle... the question is was this newly posted sign reasonably visible to safedriver333?hwybear wrote:What would be the difference if any of us drove to Thunder Bay and we did not see a stop sign that had been there for 10years?

Re: Disobey Stop Sign and Not signing Ownership - Help Please!
Couple of questions to ask, just to add to what TC and Bookm are saying... was the officer behind your friend or did the officer wave your friend over (meaning the officer was standing at the side of the road)?
The "failure to sign ownership in ink" charge should be quashed fairly easily. If your friend offered to present the officer with the ...

Which is why I put 'petty' in quotes and why I would love to give out those tickets. From that recent jaywalking case in Colorado, the general public seems to feel that jaywalking is no big deal.
Oh, okay, I understand what you were saying now.
Unfortunately, yes, many people think jaywalking is no big deal. If it's a quiet sidestreet, well ...

In America, it takes less time for a pizza to get to your house than for a paramedic team!
Not much of an exaggeration there, in fact a lot of times that's true! Two years of living in Detroit, along with four years of working there, fully convinced me that while Canada's emergency responses may not be perfect, we've got it much better here ...

The thought of sending in a certified statement is excellent. Apparently QC does this (anyone confirm?).
Quebec indeed does this, however they do not accept certified documents from the defendant. The defendant has to be present in Quebec, but not the officer.
Don't think I'd feel comfortable getting four hours' overtime pay for a ten-minute ...
