Have Bookm run around the tarmat with a pie plate strapped to his chest and a aluminum foil helmet?

how do you externally test a radar built into a plane?
Glad you asked. When we're safely clear of the apron/ramp area, during taxi we turn the radar on and point the nose (radar antenna is in the nose cone) at a distant object or ...

Re: Cop suspended with Pay, HTA 172
Yeah, maybe their radar was not tested to an independant source such as a tuning fork
I'm not letting go of the independent test issue that easily.
Besides, you bring up an interesting point. Almost everything in aviation requires independent testing or verification. Approach aids have self-monitoring systems but they're still flight-checked ...

TC - thank you for clarifying.
If you mess up, you won't be around to worry about it.
If it's a really big mistake... Could happen. Example: Comair crash in Lexington, Kentucky a couple of years ago. First Officer was the only survivor and he, among others, got sued for negligence. That said, insurance would cover everything... probably ...

Re: And another reason to strike down S.172
Good work Bel! Looks like there might be an opportunity for a breakthrough here. Just one other thing: Should this be a sticky? Just thinking it might get more attention that way. The more evidence we can get to Mr. Tabuns, the better.
Any other way I can help?

My boss tries to deduct the cost of the broken dishes from my pay, so I file a complaint with the labour board and they have my money returned to me. A similar case was covered in the Toronto Star with a downtown eatery called Joe Badali's.

Re: over 49km on dvp
Just to clarify, did the officer reduce it to 49 km/h over from a higher speed or did he catch you at 49 over? Just asking. As for the disclosure request, ask for the evidence that liveontheedge suggested. Remember one of the objectives with disclosure is actually not to get it (or part of it), because then you can file a motion for a stay.

By far the Germans are the nicest and most knowledgeable drivers I've ever experienced.
Definitely - I'd say they're the most proficient. There will always be some people who just can't handle driving, but a bad German driver is still better than the average North American driver.

Highway 400 @ Rutherford Road, Vaughan
100 km/h speed limit, days/occasional nights, usually multiple marked units, LIDAR. OPP officer on the Rutherford Road overpass with LIDAR radios ahead to officers waiting at on-ramps to pull over speeding drivers. Enforcement is more sporadic these days than it was in the past, but it is still active from time to time, particularly on a long ...

Re: Passing Off Roadway
I guess this begs the question regarding some of the speed trap operations you see. The officers will run out in front of a speeding car to flag it over, then they immediately approach the driver. Why step in front of a speeding car? You don't know anything about the driver. And then to immediately approach the vehicle without first checking to see ...

Maybe... then again maybe when I was driving on the Florida Turnpike it was an anomaly in being slower than normal... who knows?
EDIT: One other thing to mention. Fastest road I've been on, including the German Autobahn, were the Spanish Autopistas. HOLY COW!!

they are actually asking me to go to a specialized driver's course that specializes in skid control and accident avoidance.

Re: HOV Lanes
The HOV lanes are weird. They're great when traffic is stop-and-go but during most periods of time they're just about useless. People get in them and drive 90 km/h or over 140. On the 404, people are constantly crossing the "do not cross" line because of slower-moving traffic in the HOV that they're trying to get around.
